Word Of The Week – Hastings

This week our word of the week is

Hastings

Darren took some time off and we went to visit our family in Hastings. The last time we were able to visit, unbeknown to me, I was actually pregnant with Little E. Because I was so ill with her I couldn’t make the car journey again and we have waited until she is now in the car seat that faces forward so we can see her during the long journey.

Ethan also struggles with the car journey so it can be very draining. We also ended up traveling home in the terrible rain storm yesterday which also added to the stress and caused both children to cry for most of the journey home.

Apart from the travel we did have a lovely few days in Hastings. Little E got to experience walking on the beach for the first time. Well she decided to sit down to explore the stones and then didn’t want to move as she was having too much fun!

And we also visited Drusillas, which is somewhere we have wanted to go for a while. Ethan really enjoyed the Hello Kitty rides and seeing Thomas and even though it was busy, it wasn’t that bad. It was just a bit overwhelming for Ethan when we got there.

Ethan can also get a bit out of sorts when we visit anyone which causes him to climb but he did really well. I think he has now got used to the lack of routine but we are still having meltdowns over things that should be quite simple. It does feel a little bit more relaxed but then that might be because we have been busy.

  1. Car journeys can be difficult at the best of times, but yours does sound pretty challenging in the rain, and then when the children start crying it can be very stressful I know. Hope it wasn’t too awful for you, but it sounds like time in Hastings was worth the visit and you spend some quality time with family
    Have another lovely (busy?!) week
    xx

    Sounds like a nice trip!

Traveling is really hard when your are tired which I bet both your kids are but I am so glad that you had most fun!

  3. I’m glad you enjoyed your break despite the the journeys 🙂 Just as he gets used to the holidays it’ll be time for school again! Don’t worry though, he’ll get used to it again. Sir used to struggle but now he’s not so bad.
