Word Of The Week – Relief

This week our word of the week is

relief

Relief that Christmas is over and we can start to get back into our routine. Relief that we got through the Christmas holidays with only two meltdowns. Two quite big meltdowns but only two. Relief that both children were happy to go back to school and nursery. Relief that we got the chance of some peace and quiet when they did.

Christmas wasn’t terrible but with all of our holidays they are hard work. But with the Christmas holidays you get the added excitement of the Christmas build up. Ethan was definitely excited before Christmas day but he wasn’t sure why. Little E was very excited about seeing Christmas trees and just like Ethan with Christmas lights they were all pointed out.

Ethan has suddenly become aware of the days of the week. We decided to try to use a calendar to make him aware of when he was going back to school. At the moment it looks like it is working well and he knew that Thursday was a school day.

Little E was very happy to return to nursery. She gets bored at home very quickly and she returned home in a very happy mood.

Our relief also means that we can now relax and unwind. It also means in my child free time I need to put the house back into some kind of order. There are lots of toys that need to find new homes. I have a feeling it may take a while.

  1. It is nice to have things getting back to normal isn’t it. We found ourselves buying a new toy box after Christmas to try and deal with the same problem of places to put the toys and luckily we found somewhere to put the toy box! X

  2. I know exactly what you mean, Christmas is lovely and all but getting back to normal is such a relief. I had a sort out to try and fit all the new toys in but it’s still a squeeze. #WotW

  3. I’m glad the holiday passed without too much trouble, it not surprising there are meltdowns especially at that time of year.
Good luck finding homes for the new toys 🙂

  4. Ahh! I know what you mean about relief….I love my girls to bits but towards the end of the holidays we were really missing the routine!
Good luck with putting the house back in order….I have been doing that too this week. Ugh!

  5. Sounds like you had a lovely Christmas, with both children getting excited. The build up can be so great can’t it.
But I know what you mean about finding new homes for toys…something I have to do this week!
    Happy new you xx
