Our Food Challenge – Week 3

What with trying to make space on my computer I’m getting very behind with my food challenge blog posts but I’m keeping lots of notes for when I do get time to blog about it.

Week three only brought two new meals for us to try, Mustard Chicken and Bacon and Cowboy Pie, this is how we got on.

Mustard Chicken and Bacon

This was another pick from my slow cooker recipe book and whilst it was cooking I thought it smelt disgusting so I really wasn’t looking forward to eating it but I’m determined to try new things with my personal challenge so it was dished up at dinner time. I’m glad to say I was pleasantly surprised with this dinner and the mustard sauce was lovely. I would make this dinner for us again but with more vegetables as the recipe only included leeks.

Ethan’s Verdict: Ethan ate this with Darren’s help, he normally isn’t very good with chicken and often removes it from his mouth but we didn’t have those problems with this meal.

Cowboy Pie

This was another meal picked from my slow cooker recipe book but because I forgot to take the mince out of the freezer the night before I ended up cooking this in the oven. This meal is basically shepherds pie but with baked beans instead of vegetables. I thought this would mean that I might enjoy it more but it didn’t make it onto my list of favourite dinners, what can I say, I just don’t like red meat!

Ethan’s Verdict: Ethan ate this with our help and even picked out all of the baked beans that he saw. Both him and Darren really enjoyed this and have asked for it again, so it will be back on our dinner list at some point in the future.
