Colchester Castle Christmas Market

Every year Colchester Castle opens up free of charge and hosts a Christmas market. Every year we say we are going to go, and every year we never make it. This year we were determined.

So on Wednesday after Little E’s afternoon feed we walked into town ready to experience the castle at Christmas.

Unfortunately when we arrived at the castle the queue to enter was massive and wasn’t moving. We think that they were controlling the crowd and they would only let people enter as others left.

There was no way that Ethan would have stood in the queue and waited with all of the people. Thankfully there were stalls outside of the castle so we decided to walk around and take a look. It was quite crowded but we kept Ethan close to us.

There were also a couple of rides for the children outside the castle so Darren took Ethan on the teacups.

We treated ourselves to some cookies before we decided to walk home. It was a shame we didn’t get to look inside the castle as it is on our todo list.

I’m glad Ethan got to go on the tea cups so that it gave him a reason for our visit. We have decided that next year we will try to visit after our dinner to see if the queue to the castle isn’t as bad.

  1. Sounds lovely and great that Ethan got to go on the teacups. Shame you couldn’t get inside though, it is obviously very popular! Xx #countrykids

  2. It’s a shame that the queues were so long, sometimes places can get like that can’t they? I’m glad you managed to explore the market stalls outside of the castle and had a go on the teacups and Ethan enjoyed himself anyway. Thanks for linking up with Country Kids.
