Word Of The Week – OVER

I had seen people taking part in the Word Of The Week linky last year and I really liked the idea of summing up our week in a word. So for 2015 I’m going to do my best to take part.

over

This week the word that sums up our week is OVER!

Christmas is over and we have seen the New Year in. The Christmas tree has been put away and during the next few weeks we will try to find new homes for all the toys that have arrived.

I do try to enjoy Christmas but I feel that it brings with it lots of pressure. Added to the fact that we have a little boy who has no idea what Christmas is about and the excitement of it all is lost on him. It really can be a bitter-sweet time of year.

So with Christmas being over I can honestly say I feel relieved. I’m really hoping that next year I feel a little bit better about it all. Little E will be that much older and hopefully she will have some understanding that will carry both of the children through the festivities.

Welcome to #WotW! Yes, it’s all over now, our tree is down, too, and the house is getting back to normal, aside from all of the new toys! With the kids now 5 and 2, this is the best Christmas we’ve had yet, as they both enjoyed it, as it is hard with smaller ones. Thanks for sharing with #WotW x

Glad you had a great time. I’m hoping Little E will be the right age next year to start to understand what is going on. Even if only a little bit. Thanks for hosting x

As the mother of a 10 year old boy who has autism and learning disabilities I know exactly what you mean about Christmas being bittersweet. However.. hang in there! It’s taken 10 years but my son finally properly enjoyed Christmas this year. He played with his toys, loved all the decorations and “got” the whole idea of it.
His speech has improved beyond belief over the past few years – he was non verbal until he was at least 6.
Your lad will get there. It might just take him a while πŸ™‚

Thank you for your comment, it really gives me hope. Really positive to hear that your son is now verbal x

I understand where you are coming from, there is so much pressure for perfection that we miss the true meaning of Christmas. This year I tried to get organised before December so we could really enjoy the month- but we all got ill- next year- or even this year! It will be joyful! I hope you find your balance too. x

I can understand your relief at Christmas being over – the change in routine that it brings must be quite hard on Ethan and all of you as a family. Hope a return to normality will be good for you all and wishing you all the best for 2015 πŸ™‚

Thank you. Is it terrible that I’m really looking forward to that routine, never knew how much we all needed it ;0)
