Throwing Stones!

Ethan has been in a throwing mood recently and it has been driving us slightly insane! Unfortunately Darren’s shifts this month has meant he has been working on the weekends and Ethan’s days off. So Ethan has been going a little stir crazy in the house. I have been trying to get him to engage with his toys but this quickly turns into a throwing exercise.

So last Saturday, after Darren had returned from work, we made our way to visit the sea. We knew it would be quiet at this time of year, perfect for Ethan.

We ended up chasing a rain cloud on the way there but thankfully it had just left as we arrived and the sun started to come out again.

We took Ethan’s scooter in the hope that he would want to burn off some of that energy but he was too busy looking at the sea as the tide was in.

We walked in a different direction this time and we discovered a new part of the beach where the tide wasn’t so high. We also knew that the tide was going out, so even though this part of the beach felt a little closed off we knew we wouldn’t get stranded there.

This part of the beach had more stones than the other part we normally visit, and as soon as Ethan was on the sand he started throwing the stones into the sea.

It felt ironic that we took Ethan out of the house to try to stop his throwing, yet here it was OK for him to do it. Very mixed signals for a very visual boy!

It was great to get out of the house for a bit into the fresh air. Did it stop Ethan’s throwing at home? Unfortunately not!

  1. It looks lovely there. I wish we lived closer to the sea 🙁 They all go through these phases don’t they? Luckily we passed through the throwing stage quickly. Still in the whining at everything phase though! X #countrykids

  2. It looks like it was just what Ethan needed, a lovely afternoon out with you all in the fresh air. Ethan’s got a real throwing stance in the last photo, makes him look older. Let’s hope that his throwing things around at home are just a faze. Thanks for linking up with Country Kids.

Your right he does look older in that last photo. The hair cut doesn’t help, I miss my baby boy hair :0( I’m thinking the throwing might be because he is bored. I think he is ready to be put into school full time and take part in lessons. Seven weeks and counting!

  3. A great idea to get out of the house for a bit and it looks like a lovely day for a walk on the beach. It can be a nightmare when they start something like this to break the habit can’t it – good luck!

I think it is a boredom thing and I’m hoping school will help stop it. I feel that Ethan is so ready for school now, just a few more weeks to go until he starts x
