It’s the last day of June and I still haven’t posted this months siblings post. I managed to take some pictures of my siblings together in the middle of the month, I just didn’t find the time to blog. Darren’s shift patterns and the fact that Little E keeps us on our toes really has taken its toll on the time I get to blog. This was something that used to really stress me out but this blog is for them to look back on when they are older. I’m sure they won’t look at the dates of the posts and think that I’m a terrible mother because of my blogging timescales. I have also tried to catch up on some of my you tube videos. We have taken so much footage over the past few years and I want to make the videos for Ethan. He loves watching them and will sometimes make his way to our You Tube channel to see what I have uploaded there.
This month Darren’s shifts have fallen on the weekends so we haven’t been able to get out and about. The hot days have meant that we can get the paddling pool out. We have been able to have it ready in the garden for when Ethan returned home from school. Our siblings have loved playing in the water together.
Little E has really caught up to her big brother now. Last year we would worry that she might trip and fall in the excitement but this year we know that won’t happen. I really think that they will have great fun together this summer. The only thing that holds Little E back compared to Ethan is her fear. She has fear of things that she doesn’t understand, or even new things. Ethan never had that and it is something we really have to think about now.
With communication Little E is now overtaking her brother. She has always had lots of words but she now really stings them together. She also comes out with sayings that we have no idea where she picked them up from. Ethan has gained words and phrases and has come so far in his journey, but you can see his lack of understanding. I can’t have unknown out of routine conversations with him whereas Little E is chatting to you about anything and everything all day. They really are chalk and cheese.
Even with these differences and difficulties in communication they somehow communicate. This showed up during their water play when Ethan wanted them to go down the slide at the same time. Little E didn’t understand what Ethan wanted to do at first and did protest but they worked it out in the end.
We are still having issues with sharing items and snatching items. We hope as Little E gets older her understanding will help us overcome this issue.
