Beauty And The Beast Afternoon Tea

Beauty And The Beast Afternoon Tea

Sunday marked our ninth wedding anniversary. Nine years sound like such a long time ago but it has flown past. We have gone through so many different things in that short time. At times it feels like our pre-married life is a different world away. Surprisingly we have never really done anything to mark any of our anniversary’s. We might have been lucky to celebrate our local Pizza Express or Prezzo if my mum babysat. But that really has been the extent of our celebrations. That is until I discovered The Kensington Hotel in London was hosting Beauty and the Beast afternoon tea.

I was desperate to book it and we did nearly get a booking when it was first released. Unfortunately, Darren’s phone crashed and the booking didn’t go through. Thankfully due to high demand they extended the booking window and I was able to book a table for the day after our wedding anniversary.

Our Beauty And The Beast Afternoon Tea Experience

I must admit I was a little worried about going for afternoon tea at The Kensington Hotel. I was worried if it would be to ‘posh’ for us. Also, I wasn’t sure about some of the items on the menu. I wasn’t going to let my uncertainty spoil enjoying the Beauty and the Beast afternoon tea experience. There was really nothing to be worried about The Kensington Hotel was very welcoming and it had a very relaxed atmosphere.

When we were seated we were given a menu. It was full of different flavors of tea that we can choose. We both choose the English Breakfast, a type of tea that we have had before. This was brought out in a tea-pot and we were able to have six cups of tea from this pot alone. I can honestly say it was the besttasting tea I have ever had.

The Speculoos Dress Marzipan was already on our table. As it was wrapped so nicely we decided to take these home as a treat for the children.

The lounge was also decorated with Beauty and the Beast items. They had a few Cogsworth clocks dotted around and also Lumiere’s. A Lumiere was placed on our table when the sandwiches and cakes were brought over. There was also red roses dotted here and there as well as one on each table.

Our savory selection arrived promptly at our table shortly after our tea. A bite-size Venison Pie, Beef Ragu & Saffron Arancini Lemon Crème Fraiche and a Cheese Soufflé Roscoff Onion Pissaladière. Our server explained what each item was and left us to enjoy the items. They all tasted amazing and I would have happily had another plate of the savouries.

After eating our savory selection the sandwiches and sweets arrived at our table. This consisted of the following

Sweets
Vanilla & gold jelly
‘Try the grey stuff’ white chocolate mousse
Chocolate clock tart chocolate ganache
Spiced snowball macaron coconut & chocolate

A selection of sandwiches
Potted Argyle smoked salmon & crème fraîche
Roast Devon Red chicken with cranberry
Cucumber & cream cheese
Egg mayonnaise & cress

Marie’s sweet brioche baguette
Apricot preserve & chocolate pot

Dietary requirements are taken into consideration. They asked this question at the same time as we selected our tea. We asked if we could switch out the smoked salmon sandwiches. They were happy to do this for us and replaced then with more chicken sandwiches.

The best thing about the Beauty and the Beast afternoon tea is the theming. Cogsworth is a chocolate tart. Chip holds ‘The Grey Stuff’ for you to try. The cream for the vanilla and gold jelly is inside Mrs. Potts.

We really enjoyed our Beauty and the Beast afternoon tea. Everything tasted amazing and it was the perfect way to celebrate our wedding anniversary. If Little E was older I would love to take her to this experience. The Beauty and the Beast afternoon tea booked up very quickly. They have recently extended the booking window. This is great news for anyone that was unable to book it the first time around.

The afternoon tea cost us £35 per person. There is also the option of having a glass of Champagne which costs £45 per person.
