Children's Book Subscription Box REVIEW

Children’s Book Subscription Box REVIEW

Both Ethan and Little E started their reading journeys in different ways. Ethan would ‘read’ books when he little and babble along to them in his own unique way. At his SEN school, they taught him to read in a way that he would understand. He still has a long way to go but reading anything is a massive achievement for him. Little E started her reading journey in reception. We then entered a world full of phonics and I even had lessons about them. Starting to learn to read wasn’t easy for Little E. I didn’t want her to lose her progress during the lockdown. The Bear Can Read gave us the chance to review their Children’s Book Subscription Box. We gladly accepted.

The Bear Can Read Koala Club Box

We decided that the Koala Club would be the best set of books to help with Little E’s reading. Koala bundles come with books that use the letter and sound combinations that children are learning at school.

The Bear Can Read Honey Bear Club Box

Ethan is ten but his reading level is younger than his chronological age. Using the reading books that he brings home from school, we worked out that the Honey Bear club would suit Ethan’s reading ability the best. Honey Bear bundles start with very simple words and letter sounds. The books they supply gradually increase in complexity. With the aim to gently and naturally extend your child’s reading ability. Honey Bear bundles also include prep materials for the Phonics Screening Check. This is a screening that many children will take towards the end of year 1.

What Do We Love About The Children’s Book Subscription Box From The Bear Can Read?

The children love receiving their delivery from The Bear Car Read. The boxes are personally addressed to them. There is no mistaking it is their delivery coming through the door. A reading reward chat and stickers came in the first box. Little E loves marking her progress off on the chart every time she reads a book.

The books are very different from the books that are supplied at school. They are Oxford reading books that the schools use, but they are new Oxford reading books. Our school-supplied books are quite old. The children have enjoyed getting the chance to read about new characters and new adventures.

The worksheets have been a great addition to our home schooling during this time of school closures. Getting a new box every month has helped the children embrace something new in their reading when it arrives through our door. These really are a great children’s book subscription box to help your child on their reading journey.

DISCLOSURE – We received The Bear Can Read Subscription Boxes as a gift. This was for the purposes of this post. We always give our honest opinions, findings, beliefs, and experiences of the products.
