I can’t believe that today is our twelfth wedding anniversary. We worked out the other day that we have known each other for nearly fifteenth years. That sounds like such a big number but it doesn’t feel that long at all.
So many things have happened during our years together. I always thought that Ethan’s autism diagnosis would be one of the biggest challenges we would face as a couple. I don’t think anyone saw a pandemic hitting in 2020. It really is making this year interesting and for all the wrong reasons.
All being at home together unexpectedly was very nice even if it did come with challenges. Ethan struggled and is still struggling. It also flared up some of my anxieties. Little E also struggled and I’m doing my best to get us out and about in the ‘new world’ we now have to adjust to.
With that in mind, we are doing something today that I never expected us to do. Darren is driving us to Disneyland Paris. It is our first time driving there and it is a last-minute decision. We have taken everything into account, even the possibility of having to quarantine on our return. Having seen all of the social distancing measures they have in place at the moment we are happy to visit. There may not be fireworks and parades but there are new selfie spots that look lots of fun. We felt a bit of Disney Magic is needed even if it is slightly different.
So instead of celebrating my 40th birthday in Disneyland Paris, we will now be celebrating our twelfth wedding anniversary. I never thought we would actually be in a Disney Park on our actual wedding anniversary. Let’s hope this is the start of 2020 looking a bit more positive.
