The pandemic brought with it many rules and changes to the world we knew. Social distancing was put in place and cuddling was one of the things that had to stop. This meant that meeting Disney Characters* had to change in the Disney theme parks all over the world and also on the Disney Cruise Line. They did this by introducing Character selfie spots, they were a very different but also fun way to interact with the Disney characters. Covid rules started to relax last year. This meant that during our summer holiday trip to Disneyland Paris, we would be able to cuddle characters again. One of our first stops during our visit was to meet Mickey Mouse and give him a cuddle.

Getting The Chance to Cuddle Mickey Mouse
There are a few places you can meet Mickey Mouse in Disneyland Pairs*. For our first cuddle after ending the social distancing rules, we made our way to the Meet Mickey Mouse attraction located at Fantasyland in Disneyland Park*. As Ethan is eligible for a Priority Card* I knew that we wouldn’t have to wait long to meet the main man there.
When Ethan caught a glimpse of Mickey he got very excited. From a young age, Ethan has enjoyed meeting characters and it was nice to see his excitement bubbling up. Little E was cool and calm but she was just as happy to be meeting Mickey. She was the first one to rush towards him when it was our turn. Our below video captures our first cuddle with Mickey Mouse.
I found this moment very overwhelming. Silly I know but I think it was just a big symbol that we are getting back to how things were before covid. I couldn’t let the moment pass without giving Mickey a cuddle too. Darren even got involved by joining in for a family photo.
We did have fun visiting character selfie spots in Disneyland Pairs and during our Seacation sailing on the Disney Magic. But you can’t beat cuddles! To make sure we got as many cuddles as possible during our most recent Disneyland Paris trip I booked a character breakfast and also a dinner at Plaza Gardens Restaurant. Let’s hope the cuddles continue for many more years to come!
