    Fun In The Sun!

The past week finally brought a week of sun which meant Ethan got some Garden time. He was very lucky that for his birthday he was given two sand and water play tables, so we decided that one would be for sand and the other water. This is because Ethan loves water so much that when we have water days nothing will get his attention and we really want to push his sensory issues with messy sand play. So we started the week playing with the sand, I didn’t think this would hold Ethan’s attention but it played with it for at least twenty minutes at a time. I have…

    Hello June!

June is a very busy month for us with things we have planned but I didn’t realise I would be too busy to write this post and I’m only just getting around to it with nearly a week of June already gone!   Ethan’s Goals We still have the same goals set for Ethan in June, this is how we got on in May…   Sleeping in his own bed – Ethan is still staying in his cot through the night but Darren, having some holiday during May, completely threw Ethan off of his routine. This made him wake earlier in the nights and basically meant that one of us…

Family Support Key Worker – Working With PECS

Just under two weeks ago we had our first home visit from our assigned Family Support Key Worker. Ethan was very excited when she arrived, which is positive as I think she would have a hard task if Ethan didn’t like her, but considering Ethan was sitting on her lap by the end of our appointment I don’t think we have any concerns. She brought Ethan a PECS folder, she told us that this is something we now have to take with us everywhere as this is Ethan’s voice. She then put Ethan’s PECS use to the test, by this stage we had been only playing the chocolate and bubble…

Making PECS – Ethan’s First Set

The first thing I did when I become a stay at home mum in April was to treat myself to something very special!    That something special was my very own printer and laminator, not a very glamorous gift but something that will be used quite regularly now in our house. My first job was to make Ethan PECS to use for his introduction into the communication system. I started by creating artwork on my computer for BUBBLES and CHOCOLATE, also a blank PECS card. I printed them onto white card. I trimmed the cards to my desired size…   …and placed them in the laminating pouch… …ready to be laminated. With the lamination…

Our Food Challenge – Planned Meals – Week 5

My fifth week as a full time mum brought with it Ethan’s third birthday so my meal planning was a little up in the air but I did choose a few new recipes from my cook books. They were as follows     Lemon Grass Risotto  Honey Sesame Chicken Minted Lamb with Couscous Both Lemon Grass Risotto and Honey Sesame Chicken are recipes from the Disney cook book. I chose the risotto as Ethan is taking quite a liking to risotto and it’s a new one to try. The honey sesame chicken is a recipe from the Nine Dragons Restaurant in EPCOT, a place that I have always wanted to eat in and one of the things I have…
