LEGO Duplo Read & Build – Busy Farm

I had seen these books advertised so I was very pleased when Santa left this in Ethan’s Christmas stocking!     The speech therapist we saw in September had told us that we needed to work on animal sounds with Ethan to try to see if we can get him to copy us. She said to do this we should just point at animals in Ethan’s books and tell him what the animal is and make the sounds. This sounds an easy task but the problem is if you show Ethan a book he expects you to read him the story and he knows if you aren’t doing it right which can cause…

    Child Assessment Observation 1

On Wednesday morning we took Ethan for his first child assessment observation. This consisted of Ethan just playing in a nursery environment whilst being watched by the nursery staff and on this occasion the speech therapist was also there. There were also two other boys being observed and there will be another boy joining them next Wednesday.   I wasn’t expecting to be invited into this session but we stayed there for the full two hours. They asked us questions about Ethan, how he plays, what he eats and how he sleeps etc. As you are aware from my previous post ‘Sleep We Don’t Need Sleep’ we have some sleep…

New Year Walk In The Country Park

It was a nice bright day today and we all needed to get out of the house for a bit so we decided to head over to the country park for some fresh air. We were actually prepared this time as we now all own some wellington boots and we knew it was going to be muddy so we all put them on.  Before we went for a walk we took Ethan to the children’s play area, he climbed on the bridge and went for a spin on the swing!         We then set off towards the lake.   Ethan discovered a muddy puddle so he showed…

    Hello 2013!

This is the my official first post of the year so we would like to wish everyone a healthy and happy 2013. We hope that all of your dreams come true this year and that its a year you will look back on fondly.  This is obviously a time of year to look back and see where 2012 has taken you and that is what we have done.  2012 took us in a totally different direction with Ethan and at the moment we are walking a road that we never expected to walk, a road that is unknown to us and at times quite sad and scary but its not the…

    Ethan’s Milestones

I have made a list of all of Ethan’s milestones to take to his appointments with us as I know questions about his development are going to be asked and I didn’t want to forget something that they might think is quite important.    I must admit I have been putting off doing this partly because I have been avoiding looking at the old videos and photos of Ethan for a while now as I feel like I am picking him to pieces and partly because it makes me feel like I’m a bad mother.    Why do I feel like a bad mother? I’m angry at myself for not…
