We love visiting Disney characters when we go on our Disney adventures. With the announcement of the reopening of Disneyland Paris, we did wonder if it would be possible to meet any characters. With the announcement of no character meals, we didn’t hold up much hope for any character interaction. Then we saw the use of character selfie spots at Disneyland Paris*. Not only did they look like lots of fun they also had lots of rare characters out in the parks. The introduction of the character selfie spots was one of the reasons we booked a last-minute trip to Disneyland Paris.

Character Selfie Spots At Disney’s Newport Bay Club
We were able to meet characters in Disney’s Newport Bay Club* hotel in the evening. I think they visited the hotel between 8 pm and 10 pm. Mickey Mouse was there the night we arrived in Disneyland Paris. I spotted Goofy from afar and I stopped to meet Pluto with Little E. She was really upset about the fact we had to leave the next day. She pretended she was a dog with Pluto which did help take her mind off of it.
Character Selfie Spots In Disneyland Park
There was quite a heatwave in France during our visit so not all of the character selfie spots we had seen were available. We also didn’t want to make Ethan queue for long periods of time. Like our usual Disney visits the characters we met were all about our timings.
Donald Duck Liberty Arcade Selfie Spot
Donald Duck was the first character we met during this visit. Arriving in the park during Extra Magic Time there was only one family waiting to meet him. As always Donald was lots of fun. We made sure he know he is number one whilst he made us aware he wasn’t impressed with Ethan’s choice of top.
Selfie Spot With Mickey Mouse
The Meet Mickey Mouse building in Fantasyland has had a transformation to become a selfie spot.
We have met Mickey Mouse here a few times now. Instead of meeting Mickey Mouse in his room you now meet him on the stage. He also has friends with him that change all the time. Chip and Dale were with him during our visit. It would have been nice to visit him again but we run out of time during our stay.
Magic Moments At Sleeping Beauty’s Castle
During our visit, we saw two characters at Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. Firstly we spotted Snow White and her Prince. We also saw Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip. It is quite rare to see Princes in the Disney Parks. Sometimes you can get lucky and meet them at special event parties.
Snow White and Her Prince
Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip
The Dark Side Selfie Spot
We have been able to meet Darth Vader twice in Disneyland Paris. During our visit, there was also the chance to meet Chewbacca. I love Chewbacca and dragged the kids to meet him in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I might have asked the cast member numerous times who was inside! After a few attempts, we finally got the chance to meet Chewbacca.
The Princess Pavilion Selfie Spot
To replace the Princess meet and greets in the Princess Pavilion a throne was placed in the room. Creating a very pretty selfie spot. We loved getting the chance to take some very royal photos.
The Mad Hatter’s Tea Cups Selfie Spot
We were also very lucky at the Mad Hatter’s Tea Cups as we were there whilst the characters changed over. We got to take selfies with Tweedledum and Tweedledee. As well as the White Rabbit and the Queen of Hearts. All characters that we have never met in any of the parks before.
Captain Jack Sparrow
We also managed to spot Captain Jack Sparrow after we had eaten our lunch at Captain Jack’s Restaurant des Pirates. We have never met him before as we didn’t quite make the pirate night on the Disney Dream.
Character Selfie Spots In Walt Disney Studios Park
There is lots of work taking place in the Walt Disney Studios Park* at the moment. As most of its offerings are shows at the moment, which can’t take place due to the Covid-19 restrictions*. The park was full of character selfie spots. The Toy Story rides were really quiet too which the children loved.
A Frosted Selfie Spot
It is very hard to meet Olaf in Walt Disney Studios as you have to use Lineberty. In our past visits, we have never been able to book a ticket. We have only ever met Olaf once before on our recent trip to Walt Disney World. We even passed up the opportunity to meet him on the Disney Magic as he only made one appearance which would mean a very long queue.
During our recent Disneyland Paris* visit, they suspended the use of Lineberty for all selfie spots bar one. This meant we finally got the chance to meet Olaf again.
Magical Selfie Moments
In the Animagique Theater during the summer they would normally be showing Mickey and the Magician. Which is an absolutely amazing show and a must-see if you ever get the chance. Due to the shows not being on the Magical Selfie Moments spot has been created. We visited three times which meant we met four different characters. We were also able to use Ethan’s Priority Access Card (green card) to help reduce his waiting time.
Mickey the Magician is always at this selfie spot to say hello. There was lots of fun interaction with him where Mickey was trying to perform a magic trick for us.
On our first visit, we also got to say hello to the Fairy Godmother and Cinderella. We have never met the Fairy Godmother on any of our Disney travels so it was nice to get to meet her.
During our second visit we got to meet Belle, she is my favourite! We have been lucky to meet her before on a few different occasions.
Kingdom of Arendelle Enchanted Moments
The Kingdom of Arendelle Enchanted Moments takes place where the new Frozen show is normally held. We have never seen the Frozen show as you need to use Lineberty to book a space. Even with that and using the green pass* you can be in the queue for quite some time. Something that Ethan couldn’t cope with.
Because the show couldn’t take place you can meet the characters from Frozen. This is something I don’t think you have been able to do in Disneyland Paris before.
We have been lucky enough to meet Anna and Elsa before. Once on the Disney Dream in 2017 and the other on the Disney Magic in 2019. But we have never had the chance to meet Kristoff. I was very excited about this prospect.
To meet the characters from Frozen we did have to book a ticket using Lineberty. I was able to book a ticket for the final available time slot. From what I could work out these times are based on the original showtimes. They would release the ticket allocation an hour before the time slot you wanted. We had stopped for a drink in the Walt Disney Studios Park at this time. I logged in and was able to grab a ticket. We went to the theatre to check how it worked and let the know Ethan also uses a green pass. They gave us a time to return and they placed us at the front of the queue. It was an amazing experience.
The Toon Studio Character Selfie Spots
We have never been able to meet any characters at The Toon Studio before as this character meet also uses Lineberty. Due to the small numbers in the Studios during our visit, the use of Lineberty was suspended. So when Darren took Ethan on Crush’s Coaster I took Little E to meet Goofy and Minnie Mouse.
When Ethan was back from Crush’s Coaster I took him to meet Goofy and Minnie Mouse too.
With no one behind us waiting to meet the characters, we had amazing interaction. Goofy was up to no good. He even showed us how to use the selfie spot posing for a photo with Minnie.
Meeting Sully from Monsters Inc.
I couldn’t contain my excitement when I saw that Sully was out and about for selfies. We had taken Ethan to meet Mike and Sully in Walt Disney World when we visited in 2012. We have never seen Sully in Disneyland Paris but I have seen other people get the chance to meet him.
Darren was taking Ethan on Crush’s Coaster again and I joined Sully’s queue with Little E. Desperately hoping that they would come off in the ride in time and spot where we had gone. Thankfully our timing was perfect and we got the chance to take a selfie with Sully.
Toy Story Character Selfie Spots
Jessie was in the Production Courtyard waiting to take selfies. It was our first time meeting her. We didn’t visit any Toy Story characters during our last Walt Disney World visit. We took Ethan to visit Buzz and Woody during our 2012 visit.
There was also an indoor meet. They wouldn’t tell you who your was going to see inside but we knew it was either Bo-Peep or Woody. Both if you were very lucky. We were able to use Ethan’s green pass in this queue which always helps when Ethan can’t see who he is waiting to see. We got to meet Bo-Peep. She is quite a new character to meet so I was very excited about this.
Marvel Character Selfie Spots
The Marvel Character selfie spot was held in the Studio Theater. This was one of the busiest selfie spots along with the Kingdom of Arendelle Enchanted Moments. Thankfully they were accepting the green pass but Ethan still got a bit distressed as he was unsure who we were waiting for. Thankfully the cast member was really understanding and he let me and Ethan walk in to see who was inside. After that Ethan was happier to wait until we were called.
The Marvel character changed at different parts of the day. During our visit, we got to say hello to Captain America, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, and the Black Panther. We were able to meet Captain Marvel during a previous visit to Disneyland Paris. Also meeting Spider-man during that visit.
We have never been able to meet Captain America in Disneyland Paris or on the Disney Magic as the queues were too long for Ethan. Doctor Strange and Black Panther are Marvel characters we have never had the chance to meet.
We had so much fun meeting all the characters in Disneyland Paris*. We could have easily stayed for another few days. I’m so glad we took the chance to visit again when the parks reopened. You can watch all of our character meets in our video below.
