An electronic nursery thermometer wasn’t on our must buy list when we were expecting Little E. Being a summer baby we knew, or hoped, that it would be warm. This meant we was more concerned about keeping her cool rather than making sure if she was warm enough.
With the cold winter months now on their way, and Little E in her own room, making sure she is warm enough is a concern. This meant we were happy to put ETI’s Nursery Thermometer to the test.
This nursery thermometer is very easy to set up, I literary had to put the batteries in and it was ready to go.
The display is nice and big meaning that you can see the temperature from across the room. There is also a very clear dial which shows you if the room temperature is too hot, too cold or in the recommended range. You also have the option of viewing the temperature in Centigrade or Fahrenheit.
The nursery thermometer is housed in an ABS case and measures 20 x 100 x 110 mm. It also incorporates a fold-away stand and a keyhole slot so that you can hang the thermometer on a wall if required.
The nursery thermometers RRP is £10.20 including VAT.
Our Verdict
The nursery thermometer does everything you expect it to and we have had no problems with setting it up, or getting it to work. The only thing that has caused a debate is the fact that the display isn’t illuminated. Therefore when checking on your baby in the night, you can’t easily see the temperature. We got round this by using the torch on our phones. We did realise that if the display was illuminated it would turn the thermometer into more of a nightlight. It could therefore keep your baby awake, Little E doesn’t require a night-light in her room. So we think the solution that could perhaps help would be if there was a button on the thermometer that you could press to illuminate the screen if and when you required. But for the price we feel the thermometer is perfectly adequate and we can live without an illuminating screen.
