Very asked me to style myself for something I like to do in the winter from their Autumn/Winter collection. Very’s winter collection is vast. As you can imagine, winter brings Christmas celebrations and New Year’s eve parties. Lots of sparkles and bright colours and so many choices. But with all these great things to look forward to I find the things I really look forward to the most are the outdoor activities with my family. We love ice skating, festive light trails and even winter walks along the beach. So I thought there would be nothing better for me to do than wrap up warm with Very’s winter collection.
The Perfect Winter Coat
The key to keeping warm when out and about is finding the perfect winter coat. Over the years I always tend to look for a Khaki jacket. I don’t know why I changed my preference for black coats over the years. Perhaps I have found more of a selection with this colour choice. In Very’s selection of jackets, I found my dream coat. A Superdry Everest Bomber Jacket. I have always wanted a coat from Superdry. But I was always worried they wouldn’t fit me. So I was delighted to discover that Superdry coats do actually come in my size!
It fits me perfectly and even has room to wear a jumper underneath. Something that is very important as you need to be able to layer in the winter months. It is lovely and warm and has so many pockets. Perfect for my phone and keys on the school run.
My Every Day Mum Essentials
As I work from home I don’t have to really worry about a work wardrobe. So my wardrobe really consists of every day mum essentials. You will normally find me in jeans, jumpers and the odd Disney spirit jersey. I spotted that Very’s winter collection has a range of jeans called Mom Jeans that I thought I should put to the test.
These Mom Jeans come with an elasticated waist as well as buttons and a zip fly. Elasticated waists really are your friend and make these jeans so comfy. I am on the shorter side so I do have to turn up the jeans at the end. But that is normal for me unless I can find a petit range in a shop. I have worn and washed these jeans a few times now and they have held their colour. Be prepared for the first wash to lose some dye but that is normal for all dark-shaded jeans.
I found a jumper from the Michelle Keegan range to layer my outfit. It is perfect for my needs and is true to size with the fitting. There are some lovely items in the Michelle Keegan range on Very. I don’t normally buy items that are celebrity endorsed but I would buy items from her range as this size fits perfectly. And I might have my eye on a very sparkly top of hers!
It’s All About The Shoes!
Did you notice how pregnancy changed your feet? I’m sure my feet got wider. This means I need comfortable shoes, especially with all the adventures the children like to go on. Shoes that make your feet hurt are not ideal for walking miles or running about with the family.
I have had many trainers over the years but the ones I find the most comfortable at the moment are Adidas Gazelles. Yes, I know white isn’t the perfect colour for winter but I have always wanted white Gazelles. I’m sure these only come out at a certain time of year. I have had every colour of Gazelle you can possibly imagine but never need new trainers when the white ones are in stock in my size. I don’t know why I find these so comfortable but they are perfect for me and I think will be my go-to trainer for a while yet.
The Need For A Perfect Bag
Bags are an important part of going out and about. Over the years I have had expensive designer bags, baby-changing bags and even record bags. But having a young family the most important thing about a bag is how much of their stuff can you get in it. Mini backpacks have been my savour. Small and neat yet perfect for all of the extra stuff needed when we leave the house.
Radley bags have always served me well over the years and last a long time. It was nice to see a backpack available in the Radley range. This backpack is slim but also has room for all of the kid’s stuff. Being black I think it is perfect for day-to-day life but could easily be used on a night out. It is practical but stylish at the same time. Just what you want a bag to be.
There is Always Time to Sparkle
Even if party nights are not your thing in the winter months, there is always time to sparkle! This Mint Velvet star t-shirt gives me the chance to do that. Comfortable enough to wear around the house it is also perfect to dress up if needed. It fits perfectly into my every day mum essentials.
