Ethan loves the shapes from the CBeebies show Mister Maker. He loves jumping around the front room to the music and it is something Little E has started to join in with. When we went to see the pantomime at Christmas they handed us a flyer to let us know that a Mister Maker show would be coming to Clacton during the February half term.
They had a show on a day that Darren also had off from work so I booked tickets for the first show of the day. We decided that we would also take Little E hoping that she would enjoy it too.
I wasn’t sure how a live show based on an children’s arts and craft programme would work. After watching the trailer from the show I knew that they would pick people from the audience to go up on stage and help with creating the art. I warned Darren as I knew he would hate anything like that but thankfully we didn’t get picked. Something like this would also freak Ethan out but I think you are picked before the show starts.
I was surprised at how long the show lasted, Mister Maker was easily on the stage for an hour and a half and there was even an interval.
The highlight of the show for our two was easily the shapes. The children are encouraged to dance along when the shapes are on stage and you are encouraged to take photos of the shapes to share on social media.
Mister Maker is actually very funny and he is full of energy. Dare I say it, he is actually a good dancer and did some pretty good break dancing, or for my younger readers, street dance.
Ethan really surprised us during the show, his anxieties often keep him sitting in his seat or on our laps. He rarely leaves our side and you can physically see him flinch if other children come near him. Ethan’s love of shapes pushed all of his anxieties aside and Ethan got up and danced in the isle along with the shapes. He really enjoyed himself and it was so lovely to see.
Little E also loved dancing with the shapes but I wasn’t brave enough to put her down, she did her dancing whilst sitting on my lap.
I’m so glad we took them both to see Mister Maker, we all really enjoyed watching the show. It was a great end to a very nice half term week.
Monkey would love to see Mr Maker – he has one of his DVD’s and it’s been watched a lot! Glad it was a successful trip for you all
Weirdly enough, when we went to the pantomime, Mr Maker was in it! This sounds like a fun show – glad the children enjoyed it! #SSAmazingAchievements
It sounds like a lovely show to go and watch. So nice that the children enjoyed it too. H used to love Mister Maker and I think he’d still watch it now if he happened across it.
It was a great morning out, I’m so glad we took both of them to see it. They both really enjoyed it x
