I have always wanted a Disney LEGO set. At the start of lock-down, I thought about treating myself to the Disney Castle. I just couldn’t justify the cost or find a space for it. So my Disney puzzles kept me busy. But then I spotted that a LEGO Disney Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse were going to be released. More affordable than the Disney Castle and the perfect size to fit in my Disney cabinet. I still had 40th birthday money to spend. What better way to make up for our cancelled Disneyland Paris trip than to treat myself to this Disney LEGO set. So I ordered it the day it went on sale.
The LEGO Disney Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse Set
The LEGO Disney Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse set contains fully buildable characters. Creating two large-scale figures from 1,739 LEGO pieces. Standing up to 14 inches in height.
Building Mickey Mouse
Upon opening this set I discovered packets of LEGO numbered one to nine. There were also two instruction manuals. One for Mickey Mouse and one for Minnie Mouse.
Mickey Mouse is the character you start to build first. The first part you build is the base. I love how LEGO has created the film strip look.
The second section you create are his iconic yellow shoes, legs and body base. I found it quite amusing that the top of Mickeys shorts were pirates crows nests and his neck was a barrel.
The third section to create is the outside of Mickey’s body. It is at this point that you also create his arms and legs. It did take me a couple of attempts to place the arm bricks together in the correct position.
The final section to build is his head. His head is made of quite a few different sections. I love that to create his nose it is a LEGO head with a spaceman’s helmet. Something that you wouldn’t notice by just looking at him.
Building Minnie Mouse
Minnie Mouse is built in the same way starting with her base.
The second section to create is her body base and legs.
The second section you create for Minnie Mouse is her shoes, iconic red and white skirt and her arms and hands.
The last thing you create is Minnie Mouses’ head. She has an extra detail from Mickey Mouse, her beautiful red hat.
Finally, there are a couple of extra LEGO pieces to build. They are a camera, a book about Minnie and Mickey Mouse, a guitar, and a bunch of flowers.
My Finished LEGO Disney Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse Set
I love my Disney LEGO set. It took me about five hours to complete. I built Mickey Mouse the evening my delivery arrived and Minnie Mouse the next morning. They look amazing in my Disney cabinet. But you must remember to hold them by their base as you are moving them.
If you are looking for Disney LEGO to build I can’t recommend this set enough. I hope they expand this collection. I would love to build Donald and Disney Duck. Even Pluto and Goofy. The options for this collection are limitless!
Ohh! You may have just helped me out with a present for my teen. She is so hard to buy for, for her birthday but loves Disney and sets like this. These look fab x
I love this set, I’m so glad I finally treated myself to one. I will keep an eye out for photos ;0)
