The Best Toddler-Friendly Rides At Disneyland Paris

We have been lucky enough to take our children to Disneyland Paris* a few times now. They were both toddlers during their first trips to the parks. We are often asked if Disneyland Paris is a good place to take a toddler. I think that’s because when people think of Disney they normally think of rollercoasters and thrill rides. Disneyland Paris is in-fact a great place to take your toddler as there are so many rides that can go on. In this post, you will discover the best toddler-friendly rides at Disneyland Paris.

Toddler-Friendly Rides At Disneyland Paris

Disneyland Paris is home to two theme parks. The original Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park. Disneyland Park* is home to Sleeping Beauty’s castle, Main Street USA and Fantasyland. In this park, you can see the parades and watch fireworks shows. The Walt Disney Studios Park* is home to fantastic shows, Pixar attractions and Marvel Avengers Campus. There are rides in both parks that are suitable for toddlers to ride.

Toddler-Friendly Rides In Main Street, USA

Main Street, USA welcomes you into Disneyland Park. This is the street you enter which leads to the main hub, home to Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. Don’t miss the toddler-friendly attractions that are available here as you are swept up in the Disney magic.

Disneyland Railroad

Take a tour around Disneyland Park on a steam-powered train. Making its way around the outskirts of the park is a great way to see all the sights. It’s also the perfect opportunity to take a little rest from the busy park day.

Main Street Vehicles and Horse-Drawn Streetcars

You can take a ride down Main Street USA in a selection of vintage vehicles or a horse-drawn streetcar. This is a great way to see Main Street USA in a different way. It is also another chance to rest little legs.

Toddler-Friendly Rides In Fantasyland

If you are taking a toddler to Disneyland Paris, Fantasyland will be your friend. You will find lots of rides here suitable for your toddler to ride. You can also meet Mickey Mouse here and it is also home to the Princess Pavilion.

Le Carrousel de Lancelot

Le Carrousel de Lancelot is a traditional carousel. You can choose to ride on a carousel horse or in a carriage. This carousel has always been a firm favourite for our children. A parent can either stand next to the horse to support their toddler on the ride. Or you can choose to ride your own horse. Now that our children are older we all ride a horse on the carousel.

Peter Pan’s Flight

On this ride, you journey through the story of Peter Pan. You board a small galleon built for four and sour over London. Travelling to Neverland to see the adventures of Peter Pan and the Darling children. Make sure you don’t get caught by tick-tock croc during your adventure. This is a dark ride but has beautiful colours and is a ride you shouldn’t miss. It also makes it very popular so the queues for this ride can get long. Make it one of the first rides you head to on the day of your visit.

Dumbo the Flying Elephant

You can take to the skies in your very own Dumbo and see the sights of Fantasyland from above. You are able to control how high or low you want your Dumbo to fly using the controller.

Casey Jr. – le Petit Train du Cirque

This ride could be your child’s first experience of a ‘rollercoaster’ type ride. You board Casey Jr.’s carriages to take a tour of the miniature storybook land. Passing classic Disney animated movies that come to life in miniature fairytale homes and villages. Some carriages face forwards and some face backwards. Our daughter always found this train a little fast for her liking but our son loves it.

Le Pays des Contes de Fées (The Land of Fairy Tales)

Board a boat to set sail through the miniature storybook land. Passing the miniature fairytale homes and villages and into the Cave of Wonders. A relaxing way to take in the sights if Casey Jr. isn’t the ride for you.

It’s a Small World

The ride that started it all. Climb aboard a boat to sail into a world of singing dolls. Dolls dressed in traditional clothes from all over the world. This is a ride that you will either love or hate because of the repetitive song. It is one of our firm favourites and must-dos.

Other Rides To Consider In Fantasyland

There are a few other rides that your toddler will be able to go on in Fantasyland. They don’t have height restrictions but their themes place them more in the family-friendly category rather than toddler-friendly.

  • Blanche-Neige et les Sept Nains (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs) – This ride travels through the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. You sit in a mine cart that follows a track in a dark environment. Scenes include the haunted forest, seeing the evil queen and visiting the seven dwarfs’ cottage. Some scenes might make little ones jump so it might not be suitable for all children.
  • Les Voyages de Pinocchio – This ride takes you through the story of Pinocchio. You board a wooden car to make your way around this dark ride. There are a few scenes that some children might find a little scary. Pleasure Island is a scene they might not like.

  • Mad Hatter’s Tea Cups – Climb into a teacup to experience the Mat Hatter’s tea party. The cups spin and twirl around a platform. You can also control the direction your cup spins as well as its speed. Our children love to go fast in the tea cups!

Toddler-Friendly Rides In Discoveryland

Disneyland Paris only lists one ride as toddler-friendly for Discoveryland. But there are a few that they consider family-friendly and our children loved when they were toddlers.

Orbitron

On Orbitron you climb into your own spaceship and control how high you fly around the solar system inspired by Leonardo da Vinci.

  • Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast – On this ride, you must help Buzz Lightyear defeat Zurg. You ride in an XP-40 star cruiser that you can spin 360 degrees. You use a laser cannon to shoot at ‘Z’ insignias, scoring points for everyone you hit. This ride is lots of fun and can get very competitive.

  • Autopia – This is a driving ride where you get the chance to drive a car that inventors in the 1950s thought would be the cars of the future. There is a height limit for driving the Autopia cars, 81 cm. But as our daughter was quite tall for her age she was able to go on this ride as a toddler.

Rides To Consider In Adventureland

Disneyland Paris doesn’t list any rides as toddler-friendly in Adventureland. But there is one family-friendly ride that you might want to consider and one that we have always gone on as a family.

    • Pirates of the Caribbean – This is the ride that inspired the first Pirates of the Caribbean film The Curse of the Black Pearl. Climb aboard a boat to sail through the many scenes including a foggy Caribbean fort. Captain Jack Sparrow is now added to the ride so you can spot him as you make your way around the ride. There are two drops to be aware of with the possibility of getting a bit wet if you are near the front of the boat. I’m sure you will come off singing A Pirate’s Life for Me! It can be dark in places and there are some areas little ones might find scary.

    Toddler-Friendly Rides In Frontierland

Frontierland is another area that only lists one ride as toddler-friendly. Depending on your child they might be able to ride the Disney version of a haunted house.

    Thunder Mesa Riverboat Landing

Take the time to board a 19th Century-style paddleboat to sail the waters around Big Thunder Mountain. You can take a seat and take in the views. This is the perfect ride if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the theme park for a while.

Other Rides To Consider In Frontierland

    • Phantom Manor – I would describe Phantom Manor as a haunted house or a ghost train. It is Disney fun so there aren’t things that jump out to scare you. But I must admit it is only recently we have gone on this ride as a family. I avoided it for many years as I don’t do scary but it is really harmless fun. It is a dark ride that uses ghostly effects. There are no height limits for this ride so a toddler could ride it. But Disneyland Pairs describe this ride as family-friendly.

Toddler-Friendly Rides In World Of Pixar

The Pixar films were firm favourites when our children were toddlers. So it is surprising that only one ride in this area is listed as toddler friendly. But they can actually go on a few of them if you think they are suitable.

    Cars Quatre Roues Rallye

Climb into your Cars vehicle and spin around Radiator Springs. The cars fit four people. Two at the front and two at the back. The front can be a bit of a tight squeeze. This ride can feel a little fast but our children have always loved it.

Other Rides To Consider In World Of Pixar

    • Cars ROAD TRIP – For this adventure, you must board the land train to take a car’s road trip. Passing your favourite car’s characters as you make your way to Cars-tastrophe Canyon. At Cars-tastrophe Canyon you will experience the land train shaking and you might get a bit wet. This is listed as a family-friendly ride but I think any Cars crazy toddler would love it too.

It is a 4D experience so you have to wear 3D glasses for this ride. In your rat scurry around Remy’s kitchen avoiding all of the obstacles. It can feel quite fast-paced at times and it’s one of our favourite rides.

There is more to Disneyland Paris than the ride attractions*. There are shows, parades, character experiences*, walk-through experiences and firework shows to enjoy together.

As the fireworks are at the park closing, this time changes depending on the season. Visiting in the winter season will mean the fireworks show is earlier than in the summer season. If you want your toddler to see the fireworks having an afternoon hotel break would be a great plan for them to stay out later for one evening. Staying at an onsite Disney hotel* makes this an easy option.
