Walkers MIGHTY Lights Product Review

Last week our postman knocked at the door and handed us a package from our friends at Walkers Crisps. They had sent us their new Mighty Lights to try, and we were very lucky as we received three multi packs each containing 6 individual packets of the crisps.

What Walkers Crisps Say:
Back to school means back to packed lunches. New Walkers Mighty Lights are in the shops now – just in time for the start of term.
New Walkers Mighty Lights are tasty ridged crisps with 30% less fat than standard crisps. Available in 3 delicious flavours, Cheese & Onion, Lightly Salted, and Roast Chicken, they’re perfect for kids’ lunchboxes.
The Mighty Lights facts
  • 30% less fat than standard potato crisps
  • No artificial colours or preservatives
  • No MSG
  • A source of fibre
  • Suitable for vegetarians
  • Made from real potatoes

My Verdict: Ethan has been showing more interest in what I would call, adult style crisps, and I’m always worried if they are too strong or if they are too big, and are a possible choking hazard for Ethan, but I found these crisps to be a perfect size for his little hands and I had no choking concerns.

Over the past week we have been trying all three of the flavours supplied and I think that the Lightly Salted crisps are my personal favourite. I think I would have liked the Roast Chicken to have had a slightly stronger flavor, but for children, I think all of the flavours are perfect and very moreish, as they are not overpowering.

Just by touching the crisps you can feel that they have less fat than standard crisps as they don’t feel greasy, and therefore they don’t make your hands feel messy.
When I think of crisps as a snack I always worry that they are not really the healthiest choice but knowing that they have less than 30% fat than standard crisps, have no artificial colours, preservatives or MSG and are a source of fibre means that I will be buying these to put in Ethan’s lunchbox in the very near future.
Ethan’s Verdict: Ethan has slowly but surely been making his way through the packets and trying all of the different flavours. He really enjoys them and I do think it does have something to do with him thinking they are big boy crisps as we have all been trying them, nanny and granddad included!
Ethan likes them so much that yesterday he didn’t even bother to take them into the front room to eat them, he promptly sat on the kitchen floor and started to tuck in right away.

He didn’t even let them go when he decided it was time to play with his pirate ship. Never mess with a boy and his food!

So I do believe Ethan will want me to buy these again.
With all this talk about the Mighty Lights I’m off to have some more…
