Today is World Autism Awareness Day. A day where p

Today is World Autism Awareness Day. A day where people share their stories in the hope to make people aware of autism. We are nearly 13 years into our autism journey. Soon we will have a teenager living with autism. A teenager who loves CBeebies and gets excited meeting Mickey Mouse. A teenager who will still happily watch In The Night Garden and loves rollercoasters. We are still learning about autism and adapting as and when we need to. It's good to make people aware of autism but we also need people to be accepting of autism. To not stare at a person having a meltdown or a sensory overload. To understand that queuing for any length of time is hard. To join in with happy, flappy moments. Autism is an interesting journey, and can be hard at times but can also be amazing!

I like to share our happy moments on insta and I haven't been on here much due to us all adjusting to our new routine. But its also I place I share our #autism highs and lows and this week has really put our #autismfamily to the test. Last Monday Ethan trapped his finger in the car door whilst on the school run. One trip to A&E, one specialist appointment and yesterday an operation to fix his finger. Considering Ethan’s lack of communication skills and fear of doctors he was amazing. There were meltdowns but the whole experience could have been a lot worse than it was. He has bounced back today and I'm looking forward to a much needed peaceful weekend!

Did you get the chance to visit any illumited light trails this past December? We were able to visit two. The first one we visited was @colchester_zoo visiting their Enchanted Trail of Light. We all loved this after-hours event.

It's time to say goodbye to 2022. I'm not going to post a highlight wheel as, to be honest, I just haven't found the time this year to really sort out all of our photos. That is really because this year has been such a struggle for me. Don't get me wrong we have made some great memories for the children and we have moved into a lovely new home but this year every week it felt like there was a major issue to sort out or live through. I know socially I have been quiet this year so thank you for all the likes and follows I have gotten when I have been online. I'm hoping that 2023 is a bit kinder to us and that we can relax as we settle into our new routines in our new home. Wishing all of our followers a happy (and kind) 2023!

We have all had to get used to change with our move but Little E has had the biggest change. She has had to move schools. It was something we didn't really want her to do considering the disruption she had with the covid closures. But when we thought about it we thought it was best for her to get to know children in our new area
