8 Things Our Toddler Loved At Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

During our recent trip to Walt Disney World we were able to attend Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. This would be the second time we had attended the party with a toddler but the first time our little lady would attend. We were very excited to share the American Halloween experience with her. In this post we share eight things she loved at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

Seeing Cinderella’s Castle For The First Time

Although we had been in Florida for over a week we had not yet visited the Magic Kingdom. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party would be our little lady’s first time there. This would be the first time she would see Cinderella’s Castle. Unfortunately due to the crowd control you don’t walk up Main Street when you enter the party. They direct you to a path that leads you behind Main Street. Our big Main Street castle reveal wasn’t going to happen. To compensate for this we went on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover. It was a perfect way to see the castle and introduce the children to the Magic Kingdom.

Going On The Rides For The First Time At The Magic Kingdom

The first time in the Magic Kingdom meant the first time on the rides there. During Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party we stayed in Tomorrowland and Fantasyland. This wasn’t really planned but we were having so much fun we didn’t really get the chance to explore further. This meant our little lady got the chance to experience the rides in these ares for the first time and we created some firm favorites. This included Buzz Lightyear and the Teacups.

Trick Or Treating At Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

Trick or treating isn’t something that we take part in in the UK. We don’t think it is wise to teach our son to knock on strangers doors for sweets. He might think this is something he could do everyday! I loved that our children got the chance to embrace trick or treating during the Halloween party. Our little lady really embraced it and loved dressing up for the occasion.

Dancing With The Monsters At The Monstrous Scream-O-Ween Ball

The Monstrous Scream-O-Ween Ball was one of the major highlights for our little lady. She loved dancing with all of the character’s from Monsters Inc and had some great interaction with Mike. We let her have as much time here as she wanted as she was enjoying it so much.

Meeting Lotso At Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

As much as I love meeting the Disney characters we didn’t have any expectations of meeting any during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. The queues can be very long for the rare characters only seen at these events. Our son can’t queue and I didn’t want to stress him out and make the party a bad experience for us all. Whilst everyone was making their way to see the fireworks we joined the very short queue to meet Lotso. Our little lady loved meeting the pink bear and I loved getting that chance to meet a rare character.

Eating Cakes At The Happy Hallowishes Fireworks Dessert Party Tomorrowland Terrace

The Dessert Parties at the Magic Kingdom are an extra cost event. This means that you have to add the price to the cost of your party ticket to attend. This is also booked separately. In 2016 the dessert party also included VIP viewing for Mickey’s Boo to You Halloween Parade. They removed this for our party but I think this was because the parade times were a little later. I wanted to make the firework viewing as easy as possible for our family. For us a dessert party was the way to do this.

Our little lady loved the break the dessert party gave her. She also enjoyed eating the cakes that were on offer. It also acted as a great base and we could come and go as we pleased for a few hours. We also had a great un-crowded view of the Happy Hallowishes Fireworks.

The Happy Hallowishes Fireworks were the first Disney fireworks our little lady would have ever seen. Nothing can top Disney fireworks and I wondered what she would make of them. She loved them and I think the fact that we wasn’t  standing in the crowed area in-front of the castle really helped.

Mickey’s Boo to You Halloween Parade

We decided to stay and watch the second parade in the hope that it would be less crowded. We wasn’t disappointed. I was worried that our little lady wouldn’t be able to stay up so late. It was our son that fell asleep in the buggy and she was still going strong. This was also the first parade our little lady had seen and she wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I think the headless horse man worried her a little bit as she asked about him every time we waited for a different parade during our holiday. Apart from the horseman she really enjoyed watching the parade.

She did well staying for the late parade, well done. It’s a great experience isn’t it, and I love that it would be different every time if you were lucky enough to go again.

She really did do well. Ethan had crashed out by then. I would love to go again. If we go in August we might get to catch the first one of the season x
