Family Fun at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach

Although our trip to Great Yarmouth in the summer was our second visit to the area, we had never actually visited Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach. In the summer we were invited to attend the Coaster Cabana night at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach. Not only would the children be able to go on the rides they would be able to enjoy dancing and speciality performers.

We love sharing our days out on our blog. Make sure you visit our Days Out and Experiences post to read all about them.

What is Coaster Cabana at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach?

Coaster Cabana is a summer event that takes place every Saturday night in August. It turns Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach into a tropical playground. As well as being able to go on all of the rides at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach as many times as you would like. You will see dancers, performers and live DJs during your visit. There are even pop-up bars! During our visit in August 2022 tickets to enter Coaster Cabana were £16.50 per person. Children under 3 were free to enter.

Did Our Children Love The Coaster Cabana Event?

Our children loved the Coaster Cabana atmosphere. Ethan loved the musicians wandering around. He would dance behind them to the beat of the drums. Little E loved the DJs and the dancers. She was happy to dance with them as the party music was playing.

Coaster Cabana was so much fun and added a great dimension to the fun fair rides. We would stop at all of the event stages as we made our way around Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach. We loved watching all of the performers and being entertained.

Family-Friendly Rides at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach

There are many rides available at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach. There are rides for thrill seekers, retro rides and family-friendly rides. We spent quite a few hours at the Pleasure Beach and didn’t get the chance to experience them all. We stuck to the family-friendly rides as Little E isn’t as much of a thrill seeker as her brother and we wanted to go on the rides as a family.

Bonanza

Imagine being able to ride your own racing horse. On Bonanza, you can. Both of the children loved this ride. It was nice and gentle and perfect for them. Bonanza was a ride that our children could go on by themselves. We have had to work with Ethan for years for him to be able to do this. It is always an achievement for him. On this ride, if your child is under 1 metre they must be accompanied.

Floaty Boaty

This was a ride that Ethan chose to go on. Little E isn’t a fan of spinning so we sat this one out and left this ride to Darren and Ethan. Floaty Boaty spins as well as rocking back and forth. We have been on similar rides at Drayton Manor Theme Park as well as LEGOLAND Windsor. We knew Ethan would love it!

Flying Dumbo

Dumbo rides are always a hit with our children as they both love to go up high into the sky. Well as high as Dumbo lets you go. Our children were tall enough to ride the Flying Dumbo on their own. We were able to watch the joy it gave them from below without having to squeeze into an elephant.

Fun Factory

The children have never experienced a Fun Factory before. They don’t have one at Clacton-on-Sea. So this really was a new experience for them. They had fun trying to walk along the moving floors and turning tunnels. It caused lots of laughter.

Gallopers

We all love Carousel rides so it was nice to see one at the Pleasure Beach. The Gallopers ride lasted for quite a while too which is always nice as it can take some time getting on those carousel horses!

The Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach Monorail

I love a monorail ride. I don’t know what it is about them but it’s great getting to see everything from up high. This monorail runs four-seater cars on its track so we could all ride this together. The monorail made its way over the Snails ride and even through the rollercoaster. It was a great way to see what the Pleasure Beach has to offer its visitors.

Snails & Fairy Tales

I was really surprised by how much we all loved the Snails & Fairy Tales ride. I wasn’t really sure what to expect as we boarded our snail but I was pleasantly surprised. Our snail weaved his way around the inside of the rollercoaster and we got to see scenes from famous nursery rhymes and fairy tales.

Waltzer

Little E did shock us all when she told us she wanted to go on the Waltzer. I would say this is more for thrill-seekers and a ride I tend to avoid. But she felt brave. I could tell as soon as the ride started it wasn’t a ride for her. She did very well and put up with all the spinning and the ride operator slowed the ride down a little because of her reaction to it. The boys loved it as I knew they would but Little E has vowed that a Waltzer just isn’t the ride for her!

Twister

Ethan requested a ride on the Twister. Little E has been on one of these at Clacton Pier but having just come off of the Waltzer she decided she wasn’t brave enough to ride this one. We left it to the boys to go for another spin.

There were so many other rides we could have gone on at the Pleasure Beach but we run out of time. We also had to skip some as Ethan wouldn’t have been able to handle a bit of a longer waiting time in a queue. There weren’t any really long lines but we know his limitations when it comes to queuing.

Is There Anywhere To Eat At Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach?

There are a few places where you can buy food at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach. As our visit was in the evening we wanted to have our dinner there so opted to buy something from The Food Court. They had a good selection of hot food here, including a good selection of children’s meals. We wanted a sausage in a roll, which wasn’t actually on the menu but they were happy to prepare it for us.

The children had a slice of pizza and chips. The portions were great for kids. I could have happily had one of the children’s meals as it would have filled me up.

In total, our meal cost us £26 for four which I thought was quite reasonable. This was for four meals and also included drinks.

What Else is There at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach?

As well as the rides and the great entertainment that was there during the Coaster Cabana event there are other things to do at the Pleasure Beach. There are arcade games. We found Zoltar, just like the one that is in the movie Big. We had to show the children what it did and see if we had a wish granted.

There are also traditional fairground games. The children had lots of fun trying to hook a duck for a prize.
