In July both siblings still attended school until the 23rd of the month. Ethan still only went in for two days of the week. Little E went in for the full week. It was a very relaxed end of term as there were no sports days or summer fates to attend. We also started to venture out and about a bit more. This is what our siblings got up to in July 2020.
July 2020 was the month that Little E turned six years old. She did say she missed celebrating her birthday with her friends but she did get to celebrate with her grandparents. Little E has also continued losing her teeth throughout the month. She now has both top and bottom adult teeth coming through. I don’t remember Ethan losing them so quickly one after the other like she is.
Sending Little E back to school was the best thing we could have done for her. She really enjoyed those last weeks of school. But she is very worried about going into year two and the fact that she had to say goodbye to her year one teacher. There have been many nights that there have been tears at bedtime. The school has a good plan in place for the children’s transition. I hope they are actually able to be put in place.
I think Ethan is missing his real school routine and we are hoping in September he can return to school five days a week. We already know that he will return to the same class and teacher. I’m so glad that he doesn’t have to move up to the high school side this year. I think that move on top of Covid-19 would have really thrown him out.
For the last week of July Ethan actually attended school for three days during the summer holidays. They had laid on some respite and his bubble could go in every day. He really enjoyed spending his time there.
Little E’s requests inspired this month’s outings. She requested to go strawberry picking and wanted to feed the giraffes at the zoo. Ethan also needed to let off some steam so we were very glad when the children’s play areas could open up to the public again.
On the last weekend of July, we booked a last-minute trip to Disneyland Paris. It was our first time driving in France and the longest journey Ethan has ever done in a car. Before we booked the trip we asked him if he would be OK on the journey. He did really well with only a handful of meltdowns on the way.
We weren’t really sure if booking the trip to France would be a good idea in the current circumstances but we all had a great time. A little bit of Disney magic was just what we needed!
