On the first weekend of July, we were invited back to Drayton Manor to a Thomas & Friends Digs & Discoveries VIP Event. Digs & Discoveries are new episodes in the Thomas & Friends series that are airing later in the year. At this event, we got the chance to preview some of the new episodes in the Drayton Manor 4D cinema. Including the feature-length episode and an extra two episodes.
Thomas & Friends Digs & Discoveries Preview
We were invited to the first screening of Digs & Discoveries. As it was a very popular event they decided to have two showings on the day. Our allocated time was 10 am. At the cinema entrance, Rusty and Dusty were there to greet us.
They made sure our VIP passes were in order. Pressing our coloured stickers and using magic to make them squeak.
Inside the cinema, there were lots of sweet treats waiting for us. The children got stuck into the cinema popcorn and Darren opted for the pastries he discovered.
Before the Digs & Discoveries premiere Milkshake presenters, Kemi and Derek provided dancing entertainment for the children.
Both Ethan and Little E loved the dancing but quickly settled down to watch the premiere when The Fat Controller came out to introduce the show.
The feature-length feature Thomas & Friends Digs & Discoveries introduces us to Thomas the Tank Engine visiting Italy. He goes on a new adventure and hears tales of the lost train. Will Thomas solve the lost train mystery and introduce us to new friends along the way?
Spending Time In Thomas Land
After watching the Thomas and Friends premiere we were invited to spend the rest of the afternoon in Thomas Land. Our first stop of the day was to collect an Easy Access Card for Ethan. It was quiet in guest services so this was a quick and painless process. It was raining and nearly lunchtime so we started our afternoon with some undercover rides. The children chose Winston’s Whistle Stop Tour and for Ethan Bertie Bus.
To avoid the lunchtime crowds we took the Thomas The Tank Engine Tours to the other side of Drayton Manor and had lunch at Mrs. Kindley’s Kitchen. This was a great thing to do as it was really quiet. We were able to find a table and the children ate sausage rolls whilst we have paninis and hot drinks.
During our first visit to Thomas Land, the Sodor Classic Cars ride was closed. On this visit it was open and the children couldn’t wait to go for a ride.
The children had a fun-filled afternoon. Going on all their
And Lady’s Carousel which is one of the tamer rides and perfect for Little E.
Extra Thomas Land Surprises
We hadn’t told the children that we would be visiting Thomas land again. This made the whole day a surprise for them. There was one more surprise about our visit to Drayton Manor for them. They knew that we would need to spend the night at the Drayton Manor Hotel. What they didn’t know is that I had booked a Thomas & Friends themed room for us to stay in.
The Thomas themed rooms come with Thomas The Tank Engine bunk beds as well as other Thomas and Friends decoration.
As we had a weekend stay we were also invited to the Thomas and Friends character breakfast.
We all had another very enjoyable visit and overnight stay at Drayton Manor. You can watch the video of our visit below…
