Word Of The Week – Books

I have had this word in my mind for a few weeks to share with you all. But this year I still haven’t been able to find my blogging routine. I get so tired in the evenings now, not sure if it is an age thing or the fact that we have so many activities with the children now. Ethan is also really out of sorts at the moment. My change in my work and learning a new part of my job also exhausts me. But I have been finding that reading books this year has really helped being able to switch off and go to sleep each night.

Books

Last year I wanted to show Little E that reading could be fun and took part in the reading challenge. I was able to read twenty-two books last year. There were times I struggled with my book choices but I ended the year starting to read Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton series. I enjoyed the escapism of Julia’s books so much that I made my way through her entire book collection. Last week I was quite excited to be able to order a set of new books from an author who has been on my to-read list for a while now. I’m now reading the Court of Thorns and Roses series written by Sarah J. Maas.

Little E has also given me a book to read this month. They read The Last Bear as a class and she really enjoyed it. There is also a second book in the series which I added to my order for her to read. She is very excited that I’m going to read a book that she really loves and can’t wait to know what I think about it.

I love that I have been able to bring time for books back into my life now. I used to always read on my commute to London. They would help me unwind after my working day and ignore the packed tube around me. I find that I now want to turn to my books after I shut my computer down for the day. I’m also reading before bed. I was having some issues with hearing my heartbeat at the start of the year. In my chest and in my ear just before I went to sleep. Reading books has helped to reduce this. Books are the perfect medicine for me at the moment.
