Word Of The Week – Bus

This week our word of the week is

Bus

the reason being is that the song ‘The Wheels on the Bus’ has been the soundtrack to our half term.

At the beginning of the week it sounded like Little E was humming the tune to ‘The Wheels on the Bus’. Ethan picked up on this too and gave us the most beautiful rendition of his version of ‘The Wheels on the Bus’. Singing to Little E his favorite line was the babies on the bus. This changed to mummies or daddies depending who he was looking at. I’m wasn’t sure what words he used for the action part of the song but the babies definitely made the crying noise.

Little E would then join in with Ethan’s version of the song copying the baby crying noises and singing along with him. I know that Ethan has been learning about buses at school so I can only imagine that they have been singing this song in the class too.

When Ethan was at nursery Father Christmas gave Ethan a ‘Wheels on the Bus’ book as a Christmas gift. It even plays the tune for you to sing along too, so today I dug it out for him. This meant even more singing from all of us.

It has actually been a really nice half term holiday for us which makes such a pleasant change. Ethan and Little E got on really well, it didn’t feel like they needed to adjust to spending more time together like they have done in the past. There has also been some duplo building going on this week and at times they have sat next to each other whilst they played. We also had a lovely day visiting family and the week was rounded off by going to see Mister Maker and the Shapes Live today. Both children loved it. Lets hope the next school holidays are as good as this one.

  1. That’s brilliant, it’s really lovely when things like that happen 🙂 makes you feel very proud. I’m glad you’ve had a good half term 🙂

  2. This sounds like you’ve had a brilliant week & a change of routine for a week with positive outcomes must make you feel like you’ve come a long way. That’s brilliant.
Mademoiselle used to love the Wheels on the Bus song too, but her favourite line was ‘Daddies on the bus go snore, snore, snore’ and often sang it to the OH really loudly when he was having a nap on the sofa! One of those funny memories I will never forget!
Here’s to a good week back at school xx
