This week our word of the week is
as we are back into our normal routine. This has brought with it a nice sense of calm as Ethan is happy surrounded my his routine.
Ethan we struggled over the Christmas holidays. Ethan didn’t know what to do with himself which meant he was very hyper and couldn’t settle. This also caused tensions between him and Little E as he was very boisterous around her. Ethan returned to school on Monday and you could just feel the calm descend as soon as he was wearing his school uniform. I suppose I could make more visuals to help Ethan other the holidays but I’m worried about doing this, if our plans change, it will cause a meltdown. We did have a basic planner for the summer holidays which I think did help a little.
Darren was working a Tuesday to Friday shift this week so we took down our Christmas tree on Monday. It’s so nice having a clear front room again, we just need to find a home for all of the new toys!
Little E went back to her swimming lessons yesterday which she really enjoyed. I did think she would be moving up to the next group as she is 18 months old in a few days but they have a full class. So we are still with some very tiny babies now, and she is the oldest in the group, but its a smaller group which is nice.
Today we are back to Baby Ballet and Little E is moving up to the next class. This could be fun as she really enjoyed the freedom of the baby class, there is more structure to this class.
This week I have been trying to get back into the swing of things which hasn’t really happened. The school holidays really knock it out of me and with Darren being on shift this week Ethan has joined me in bed at 3am every night. So lots of broken sleep for me, but that’s nothing new!
It’s nice to have that return to normality after the holidays isn’t it? Glad that Ethan is much happier for being in his normal routine and well done to Little E on moving up at Baby Ballet – hope she enjoys the new classes. Hope you manage to get a little more sleep over the weekend as well.
Thank you, the class went better than expected. We need to catch up on about five years of sleep, a couple of months should do it lol
Nice to get back to normality and it sounds like Ethan has needed and appreciated it. Bless Little E moving up, too, hope she enjoys the new structure! Thanks for sharing with #WotW x
Ethan really did need it, we needed it too as we all started to feel out of sorts. Thanks for hosting x
It is nice to get back to normal isn’t it 🙂 I’m sure Little E will love her new ballet class. Hope you have a good 2016!
Thank you, yes normal is nice ;0). Hope you have a great 2016 too x
Normality is great isn’t it…..I’m still not back into the swing of things. I think I need another week to feel totally normal…hehehe
I think I will need another month, it took me six months to get over that summer holidays ;0) x
I’m quite liking the normality this week after an awesome Christmas. You sound really busy but the sleep deprivation must be a killer! Have a fab weekend xx #wotw
Thank you, we don’t stop. We have had to learn how to run on very little sleep ;0)
I think it’s been tough all round getting back to routine this week, hope next week settles down and baby ballet sounds fab x #wotw
Baby ballet went really well. I’m hoping next week is easier x
There is certainly something to be said about getting back to normal. I have to admit it was lovely getting the tree & decorations out of the house, despite loving Christmas! I’m glad life is getting back to some sort of normality for you, although I do hope the 3am wake up calls don’t become too normal for you!
xx

3am is starting to be normal when Darren is on his shift days, it’s a killer. I’m hoping the school days will settle Ethan at night a bit more. I have three nights to catch up on sleep until it’s my turn again x
I was the same, glad to get back into a routine and get the decorations down. We had a wonderful time but routine is what the kids need, they seem more settled that way. Have a fab week x
The only thing about getting back to normal after a school holiday that I don’t like is having to switch the alarm on again!
