Last week was a week of PCR testing for us. Thankfully all of our tests come back negative which was a huge relief. I always worry about the possibility of infecting others. The fact that you can go out and about whilst waiting for results feels weird to me. Of course, you can’t do this if you have symptoms. Ironically this week feels like a repeat of last week as we are going to have to take PCR tests again!
We kept Ethan at home from school again on Monday. We wanted to make sure he felt 100% before sending him back to his class. So on Tuesday, it was back to the normal school run. I was just sitting down with my first cup of tea for the day when the email come in. There is a positive case of covid in your child’s class please book a PCR test.
Now technically Ethan hasn’t been in his class for three days. That gives him a very rare chance that he is actually a close contact. But to be on the safe side I booked us all PCR tests again. It’s better to be safe than sorry right? We will be doing the tests tomorrow morning and popping them in the priority post box. As well as the normal lateral flow tests we do before going out and about at the weekends. I had a feeling our winter would be full of PCR tests but I didn’t quite expect we would repeat them so soon.
The rest of the week has been a repeat of our normal routine. Which has actually been quite nice as last week felt far from normal. We have one more week of school and then it is the October half-term. I have the week off with the children and I’m looking forward to some downtime and hopefully a chance to get the house in order.
I am glad the PCR tests all came back negative. It is weird that you can now go out and carry on as normal while you’re waiting for your results. Oh no! It is rubbish that you’s are all having to test again but it is better to be safe than sorry. Good luck x
Fingers crossed for you again. My son was sitting next to a boy in class that tested positive and still didn’t catch it. He’s the only one not vaccinated now as he’s too young, but I do worry about him. I really hope that Ethan is ok. It’ll soon be half term and we can relax a little.
So glad all your PCR tests came back negative and hope that next week’s ones do too. Glad that the second half of the week felt more normal and hope that you can manage to get some downtime over half-term. #WotW
Oh, the routine!
I know half term will be a welcome break. Enjoy it. Spend it relaxing with the family and creating fun memories.
