This week our word of the week is adventures. It has been a busy week this week but it has been filled with some fun adventures.
On Wednesday it was my birthday and we celebrated with a child-free day to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour to visit The Making of Harry Potter. We had debated if it could be something that Ethan would be able to visit but now that we experienced it we know we made the right decision to make it an adult-only visit. If Ethan starts to watch the Harry Potter series when he gets older we would perhaps think about taking him but we would have to see if they could make the entrance a bit more autism-friendly.
We did have a very good day but we were shocked at how busy it was. There were so many schools visiting. This, therefore, meant that we decided not to ride the broomsticks as the queue was huge.
Yesterday we were very brave and decided to make the most of Ethan’s last day of term time and take him into London. I haven’t been in London for well over a year now and it has been something that has been causing me anxiety issues. The thought of taking Ethan on a train, with all those people, I thought was going to be a nightmare. Also, Little E can make you well aware that she doesn’t like being in the buggy all day.
I’m pleased to say the day went very well. There were a few autism meltdowns, but we managed and I think Ethan really enjoyed the day. We showed him the dinosaurs in The Natural History Museum and spent most of the day in The Science Museum. We even visited Harrods to have dinner in The Disney Cafe, which Little E loved!
Ethan really enjoyed the train journey and even liked ‘reading’ his Evening Standard on the way home. It was a few long and busy days but we all enjoyed it.
What a lovely week of adventures. The Making of Harry Potter tour sounds amazing and glad that your trip to London went so well. I love the Natural History museum, such a great place to visit. Hope you have a lovely weekend 🙂
We have had a quiet weekend after our busy week. The Harry Potter tour was lots of fun x
Lots of adventures for you this week then! A belated Happy Birthday to you, and it sounds like you had a great time. Glad the trip to London was successful, too x Thanks for sharing with #WotW
Thank you. I was really nervous about going to London with the children but I’m so glad we did it x
Sounds like you had some wonderful adventures and made some lovely memories to go with them!xx
We really did, it was lots of fun x
I think it can be challenging not to overwhelm the senses at some visitor attractions but it sounds like you had some very successful adventures 🙂 #wotw
Ethan did do lots of flapping and singing, but he enjoyed it (I hope). We have had some days at home so that he can get over the busy day x
It sounds like you have had a couple of fantastic days this week….Ethan reading’ his Evening Standard made me chuckle. Bless him x
He did love that Evening Standard. He fell asleep and we tried to remove it from his lap. This woke him up and it put the paper right back on his lap where it should be ;0)
Awww you really did have lots of adventures! I hope I can bring my son to LOndon too! #wotw
I’m sure he would love to visit x
