Visiting Frinton-on-Sea On New Years Day

We love to visit Frinton-on-sea on New Years Day. It has become one of our traditions. Unfortunately, due to Darren’s shift work, we have been unable to make this visit for the past few years. This year we were determined to visit again. After taking down our Christmas tree in the morning we headed to Frinton-on-Sea in the afternoon. We normally visit beaches in the morning. This is normally the quietest and best time for Ethan. Little did we know that by visiting in the afternoon we would be in for a treat! Both children were really excited to visit the beach. Due to Darren’s shift work, we had been…

Strawberry Picking at McLauchlans of Boxted

It’s funny how some memories of your childhood are more prominent than others. I have a vivid memory of strawberry picking that would make me believe it was a regular outing. Apparently we only went once but that day has stuck in my mind. I have wanted to take my own children strawberry picking for the past few years. Darren’s shift pattern has meant he has been working on the weekends during strawberry picking season. This year we finally got the time as a family to go strawberry picking. Knowing that McLauchlans of Boxted is a popular destination we decided to head out on our strawberry picking adventure early on…

Visiting Christmas Wonderland at St John’s Clacton

We discovered the Christmas Wonderland at St John’s Plant Centre three years ago. Ethan loves flashing lights so we would take the children to see the Christmas decorations. We knew that their Christmas Wonderland included a Santa Express but last year was the first time we included it in our visit. The range of Christmas decorations at St John’s is amazing. They have a huge selection and they are arranged in colour. We have easily spent an hour looking at the decorations and all the Christmas trees available to purchase. Last week we took the Children to St John’s again to visit Santa on the Santa Express. Christmas Wonderland at…

    We Finally Visited Mersea Island

We have lived in our house since Ethan was eighteen months old. Surprisingly we have never really had the time to explore the local areas. Mersea Island has been on our radar for a while. It has been recommended to us as a place we should visit. Finally this week we were able to make our way there. We knew through friends that to visit Mersea Island you have to check the tide times. There is only one road onto the island and at high tide the road can become flooded. I thought this is something that happened everyday, but I have discovered that it is normally for one week…

A Sunny Morning at Clacton Pier

This week something amazing happened. The sun come out, it was getting warm and we had a morning with no plans or appointments to go to. As soon as Darren woke up he suggested going to visit the sea. So with Ethan at school we jumped into the car to go and get some fresh air in the sun. I wanted to see what children’s rides they had now as we know that there was work being done during the winter months. We were there so early that the ride area that Ethan loves was closed so we couldn’t walk around but we did spot some of the new rides…
