This week our word of the week has to be
as Ethan was invited to two birthday parties this week.
Birthday parties is something I always wondered about when debating about Ethan’s education and the possibility of a mainstream setting. Would Ethan be invited to a birthday party because he was liked or because people felt sorry for him? I know this is something that would have played on my mind as at the moment Ethan can’t really make friends with his peer group in the ‘normal way’.
Thankfully this wasn’t an issue as Ethan goes to a school with his peers, children that are like him. So an invite to a birthday party means that it is something we are all going to enjoy. We had a party on Monday night and a party on Friday night, both at soft plays, and we were all invited.
Ethan still has anxiety with soft plays and needs our support but both parties had hired the venue for our children which makes it a setting for them all to enjoy. Both Little E and Ethan kept Darren on his toes whilst Darren gave me the chance to catch up with some of the other mums.
It’s very weird not having the chance to see other mums at the school gates because most of our children travel on the school buses. Parties are the perfect time to get to know each other a little better.
We also had a parents evening this week so it has been a week for school type activities which has kept us busy.
I was hoping that I would feel a bit better this week but I did have another anxiety attack brought on my worrying about the future. I’m feeling better now and I hope I stay in this mood, anxiety is a horrible feeling and I wouldn’t wish it on anybody.
I’m glad Ethan’s been having fun. We do seem to go to a lot of parties, too, and it is a good chance to chat to other parents. Sorry to hear you’ve had another tough week, take it slow, and I hope next week will be a better one x Thanks for sharing with #WotW
