Word Of The Week – Food

Our word of the week this week has to be food. As this week it feels like Ethan is wanting to eat us out of house and home!

Food

Ethan is still obsessed with the Kinder videos you can find on youtube. Because of this, he is asking us for a kinder bar at silly times of the morning. The earliest being 5.30 am! This really isn’t the type of food I want him to start his day with.

I do limit Ethan’s kinder bar eating as he would easily eat ten a day. There is no way he is eating any before 10 am in the morning. I’m doing everything I can to stick to this rule. It means that the fact I won’t give him a bar of chocolate at 5.30 in the morning could potentially result in a meltdown.

Ethan isn’t silly though. At cretin times of the day, I will tell him he can’t have a bar of chocolate until he has eaten something healthy. For example, I will tell him first banana, then chocolate. He has tried to use this tactic in the mornings this week. If I can’t have a kinder mummy will give me a cake!

He has also come home from nursery wanting lots of snacks. As his diet is very limited this will be a cake, chocolate or crisps. We did have him eating Muller Rice but since our holiday he has gone off of those. To fill him up, out of desperation, we ended up getting him a Happy Meal at 3 pm one afternoon.

We have so many struggles with Ethan and the food he will eat. The fact that he wants to eat is fantastic. We just can’t keep up and need to stock up on some healthy snacks for him!

  1. Sounds a real challenge-I wish you the best of luck with it. My daughter has issues with food and we often face a similar issue about trying to fill her up with healthy food as opposed to chocolate, sweets etc. Costs a fortune too!

Tell me about it, the amount of money we spent on food is going through the roof. If they are like this now what will they be like as teenagers!

  2. Good luck with stocking up on healthy snacks – I can imagine it must be a little wearing being asked for a kinder bar from 5.30am onwards! Hope you have a good weekend x

  3. Oh Harry loves those YouTube videos too and would also eat 10 a day. It’s so tough when they have these fussy periods. I’m glad he want’s to eat though, as there is nothing worse than when they wont eat a thing. x

I hate it when he doesn’t want to eat, it is so much easier when he wants to eat. We just need to expand the food choices. Those videos drive me insane!

Oh wow at least you can get him to have a banana before giving him a chocolate, I think that’s fantastic! There is no way little miss Holly would do that *cries*. Xx

He does ask for the kinder whilst still eating the banana! I’m sure he is thinking I have completed the task you set now give me what I want ;0)

  5. That is great he’s eating so much….It is a worry when they just want to eat chocolate and sweet stuff though….My girls would happily choose sweet things over healthy treats…lol

It’s the amount of sugar I’m worried about. I’m sure that amount of chocolate can’t be good for him x

  6. Renee @ Mummy Tries

All that fun at nursery is clearly having a positive effect on his appetite. I’ve got tons of healthy treats on my blog hon – always gluten, dairy and refined sugar free 🙂 have a lovely weekend xx

School made my son eat a lot too! After school he is just one mean eating machine. I try to give him fruits and breads but sometimes I give in as he just wants so eat some more after eating so much already! #wotw

  8. Kids and food one of the worst headaches in parenting I think, I still worry about my 11 year olds poor eating habits, but nothing seems to work for him. Good luck 🙂
