In the May half-term, we booked to stay at Away Resorts Sandy Balls. I had researched Sandy Balls in the past but we didn’t get the chance to book a break there. Wanting to take Ethan to Peppa Pig world for his eleventh birthday Sandy Balls was the perfect base. By the time we booked our break, there was only one accommodation option left. A Superior Wooden Lodge with two bedrooms. I didn’t do any accommodation research before our visit. It was a present surprise when we arrived at our home of four nights.
The Two-Bedroomed Superior Wooden Lodge
The only thing I knew about our accommodation is that you have to take your own towels. I also knew there was heating but that was a far as my research went. We collected the keys at the arrival lodge located at the entrance of Sandy Balls. With map in hand and after getting a little lost we soon found our lodge.
Inside The Lodge
The main hallway greats you as you enter the main door of the lodge. All rooms lead off of this hallway. The two bedrooms, the bathroom and the main living area. There is also some great cupboard storage in this hall. This is where we kept our suitcases during our stay.
The Master Bedroom
The master bedroom was a nice size, you could easily walk around the bed. It comes with its own built-in wardrobe and it even had a TV.
The Twin Bedroom
The twin bedroom was also a nice size and also comes with a built-in wardrobe.
The Bathroom
I was expecting a shower in our accommodation but walking in and seeing a bath was such a nice surprise. The bath also had a jacuzzi option if you wanted to have a bath with bubbles.
The Main Living Area
The main living area is open plan combing the kitchen and the front room. In the kitchen, you will find everything you need to make the lodge feel like home. This lodge even had a dishwasher which we weren’t expecting but were very happy about.
The front room had two two-seater sofas and a small TV which was all that we needed during our stay. There was also a Blu-Ray player. I’m unsure if you could rent any Blu-Ray discs from the shop. We didn’t really get the time to check for that during our brief shopping trips.
Outsite The Lodge
The living area of the lodge has two double doors that lead to the outside of the lodge. Through these, you walk out onto the deck area that also runs along the side of the lodge.
Our decking area was a nice size and there was a bench that the children would sit at to eat their meals. There was also a BBQ on the grass area but it looked like it hadn’t been used in a while.
Even though we were in an area with other wooden lodges we were surrounded by an amazing view. It was so peaceful there, it reminded us of staying at Center Parcs.
You are able to park your car next to the lodge making it easy to use the lodge as a base. If we ever return we already know all the places we would like to explore.
