Can you believe that this time last year I sat down and wrote my first ever blog post – Welcome To Holland. This was a very hard thing for me to do and it took me over four months to write after registering with blogger in the April.
It was the first step in admitting to the world that Ethan was autistic, although at the time we were still waiting for his diagnosis and part of me was desperately hoping that it wasn’t the case.
We have come so far this year, both with Ethan and as a family. At times I have felt that this blog has been my saviour, it has kept me trying to be positive when I have been at my lowest points. I hoped that by sharing our journey not only would we document our memories we would also help others. I’m learning that to help others I must also be more honest with my feelings on the blog, and I’m doing this very slowly but surely.
Our blog, our little piece of the internet, has also come so far over this past year. We have been very lucky and have been sent some products to sample and even have had some days out. I have been asked to guest post twice, and last week even ran our first competition. I even took the plunge and started running a weekly linky, something that I really enjoy and I have met some fantastic people though it. This month our little blog even entered the Tots 100 top 500 blogs, I have no idea if we will be there next month but I’m just happy we made it in there once.
Even though my blog is a year old I really didn’t know or experience the blogging world until I gave up work in April. I also embraced twitter and I have found it a fantastic place to meet fellow bloggers. It is also full of some fantastic information that has helped me along the way.
I have no idea where this blog will be in a years time, or even where we will be in a years time. All I hope is that I continue to enjoy it and in someway this little blog can help raise Autism Awareness.
Ohh Congrats & Happy 1st Birthday to your blog x
