We visited Butlin’s Bognor Regis after the first lockdown in August 2020. It was our first family holiday to a Butlin’s resort. We always said we wanted to stay in one of the Butlin’s hotels if we ever got the chance to visit. With the announcement of lockdown easing, we looked into visiting Butlin’s and found an amazing offer at the Butlin’s Ocean Hotel which included a dining plan.
The Butlin’s Ocean Hotel
We love the location of the Ocean Hotel. It is next to the fairground and some of the outdoor leisure activities. It is also only a short walk to the Splash swimming pool complex. The walk to the Skyline Pavilion isn’t far and that is where you can find the toddler fairground and the majority of the dining and entertainment options.
The hotel rooms comprise of the main bedroom, bathroom, and a separate sleeping area for the children. Unlike other hotels of this design, this hotel has two separate beds in this area. Not the normal bunk beds. This hotel room felt really big compared to others we have stayed in with this type of design. The below video is our Ocean Hotel room tour.
Check-In At The Butlin’s Ocean Hotel After Lockdown
Before arriving at Butlin’s they assign you an arrival entrance. Staying at the Ocean Hotel our arrival entrance was the main entrance. We were also given an allocated time to arrive. You are now able to pre-book your arrival time seven days before your Butlin’s break.
At the moment Check-ins are conducted in a drive-through manner. The location of the Ocean hotel is near the main entrance of the Butlin’s site. This meant our check-in was situated on the first right turn on the site. This leads you directly into the Ocean Hotel car park. You need to have your booking reference and ID to hand. Then Butlin’s team then gives you a welcome pack which contains your room keys and all the information needed for your stay.
During our stay, there was no staff at the hotel reception desks. If you needed any help during your stay you were advised to contact them on the number provided or through the Butlin’s app.
Housekeeping At The Butlin’s Ocean Hotel After Lockdown
Your official check-in time is the time that you can enter your hotel room. Housekeeping gives all rooms a deep clean before you arrive. They place a sticker seal on your door to show you that your room is ready to enter. Covid restrictions mean that housekeeping can not enter your hotel room during your stay. Meaning towels and bedding are not changed during your stay. Resuing towels during your stay is always good for the environment. If new bedding or towels are required all you need to do is contact guest services.
What About My Morning Tea or Coffee?
Tea and coffee-making facilities are still provided in the hotel rooms. As housekeeping are unable to enter the hotel rooms these items are not replenished. We did not find this a problem as the rooms also come with a fridge. We were able to buy all the items we needed for our hot drinks in the onsite shop.
Butlin’s Dining Plans
When we booked our stay at Butlins we selected the hotel dining plan. This option wasn’t available during our stay so they upgraded us to the premium meal plan. Our restaurant allocation was The Yacht Club for our breakfast and evening meals. During our stay, we didn’t need to book a time slot to arrive. As there are now more dining options available you must book your meals in advance via the Butlin’s app.
We really enjoyed our summer stay at the Butlin’s Ocean Hotel in Bognor Regis. The food was amazing and the children loved every moment. They continually ask when we can return.
