At the moment I’m 33 weeks pregnant and I’m starting to feel trapped in the house.
I’m not sure if it is a second baby thing, or the fact that I have had an emergency c-section with Ethan but the pressure this baby is putting on my bladder is unbelievable. It may also be partly due to the fact that I’m sure Ethan was in the wrong position when I was pregnant with him and I never had this sensation before. This means I can’t walk very far without needing a toilet break. We also live in a very hilly area which doesn’t help.
I used to take Ethan for walks in the park and to the children’s play area in the week but because I’m not so mobile, and how much support he needs I’m very scared to do this on my own. If Ethan run off or was put in a possible dangerous situation I wouldn’t be able to move fast enough to help him. I’m also worried about me falling over if I needed to do this.
Hay Fever is also another factor keeping me housebound, I only have to open up our back door and my symptoms start. I’m not sure if I can take any hay fever medicine whilst pregnant and to be honest I’m trying to avoid taking anything like that. At the moment Ethan is wanting me by his side 24-7 so he won’t go into the garden without me. I have tried to encourage him to play with his toys in the garden whilst I watch from the kitchen but he will only stay outside for a few minutes at the most.
So as you can imagine the guilt is setting in!
Our weekends have been filled with trying to get the house ready for our new arrival, we have had so much stuff to declutter but thankfully we are almost there.
Last Sunday I couldn’t take anymore and with the sun shining we got up and headed out to the beach. I made myself comfortable on the steps, put the longer lens on the camera and hoped that I could get some good pictures of the boys having fun.
It didn’t take long for Ethan to make his way into the sea.
Darren gave Ethan some seaweed and he soon put it back where it belonged. I was quite impressed Ethan even touched it as he is very sensory with his hands.
They even had fun kicking the water and Darren tried to show Ethan how to skim the stones in the sea. It was great that Ethan was copying his Daddy and I wrote about this for his Small Step Amazing Achievement this week.
We were able to stay at the beach for over an hour before the heat got to me and my feet started to swell, so we made our way home in time for lunch.
That left the afternoon to have fun in the garden with Ethan’s new paddling pool.
A lovely family Sunday where we didn’t have to worry about cleaning or sorting the house and enjoyed our time with Ethan. I’m looking forward to being more mobile so we can have even more fun!
