The past week finally brought a week of sun which meant Ethan got some Garden time. He was very lucky that for his birthday he was given two sand and water play tables, so we decided that one would be for sand and the other water. This is because Ethan loves water so much that when we have water days nothing will get his attention and we really want to push his sensory issues with messy sand play.
So we started the week playing with the sand, I didn’t think this would hold Ethan’s attention but it played with it for at least twenty minutes at a time. I have been told that I have to set Ethan tasks so he knows what to do with his toys. I showed him how to fill the bucket, including counting, and make a sand castle. He moved his play on by using his now famous “Ready, Steady, Go!” and throwing the sand in the air, I have no idea where he got that from! I quickly told him this isn’t how we play with sand, so he decided he would move all the sand from one side of the table to the other. I’m amazed with how well he played with the sand, a few months ago he wouldn’t even touch sand let alone attempt to play with it.
Ethan was also treated to another garden toy this week from Nanny and Grandad, he was given a Hula Hoop. He plays with these at nursery, he had lots of fun spinning it and shouting “Ready, Steady, Go!”
Wish we had the space for one of those tables! I love his intent concentration face…too cute! It’s great to hear him having fun and learning all at the same time!
I never thought of getting him one before so he was very lucky to get them for his birthday. I’m trying to find games that also include learning without him realising. Water is always a winner ;0)
It’s lovely when they kids can be outside and just have fun. My son has just lived in his sandpit or at his water table this last week #CountryKids
Let’s hope the sun stays so they can enjoy it even more x
Hasn’t it been great now the weathers picked up that we are able to spend more time outdoors! You have some lovely pictures of Ethan having fun with his sand and water – both ideal outdoor activities. I do like his Goonies T-shirt, he also looks very tall standing with his hula hoop, he must have had a growth spurt. Thanks for coming over and sharing your outdoor fun with Country Kids.
We love the Goonies top, he has no idea what it is lol. His nursery auntie said he looks taller perhaps he has, we don’t notice seeing him everyday. Hopefully we can join you again next week x
I love the photos of Ethan playing with the sand, he looks so focused. And, water play is always a hit in our house too! And, I just have to say – love the Goonies t-shirt 🙂
I’m so please how he was playing with the sand as it wasn’t that long ago that he didn’t like it’s feel. We love the Goonies top ;0)
