Word Of The Week – Reset

Last year felt like a constant battle against life. It zapped my energy and I had to slow down my blogging. Meaning that my Word of the Week posts were few and far between. I couldn’t wait for 2022 to draw to a close so that we could reset and begin a new year. Wipe the slate clean and start again. And that is what I felt this past week has been a nice reset and I feel positive moving forward.

reset

We have had a slow start to the year as Ethan didn’t go back to school until today and Little E doesn’t go back until Monday. But the children had been ill with a cough so the downtime has been welcomed. Darren did drive us into London this week as I needed to exchange my work computer. I love seeing the sights of London and it’s even nicer from the comfort of your own car. I got to show the children some London landmarks and I wondered if perhaps Darren could drive back up in December to see the Christmas lights. Little E would love to go to Somerset House for ice skating again.

We also went to see a panto this week. Ethan won tickets again to the local relaxed performance. Last year I took the children on my own to see the Aladdin pantomime. This year it was Beauty and the Beast. Darren also had the day off of work so he was able to join us. It was a nice way to start the year before the normal routines return.

We don’t really have any big plans for this year. There were enough of those last year! We have talked about things we would like to do but we have to work out our budget. Budgeting is a big theme for us at the moment. I’m sure it is for everyone. The cost of living crisis is really impacting our weekly budget. We are always talking about what the smart meter is telling us we have spent every day. And everything has just got so expensive. I think we will just slowly start the year and see where it takes us. A bit of a reset and relax.

  1. Reset is a great word, perfect for the new year.
I hope the kids are feeling better, my two have had a nasty cough too. It sounds like you had a nice trip to London and the panto sounds like fun. x

  2. It’s nice to have that feel of a new year as being a reset and a chance to start things again. I hope that 2023 will be a better year for you and your family. Hope Ethan and Little E are feeling better and have settled back into school routines. Lovely to see the panto. Budget is definitely something we’re all very conscious of at the moment. Everything seems so expensive at the moment. Wishing you and your family a happy new year. #WotW
