Legoland Windsor Driving School L-Drivers

Dear Legoland Windsor,

Your Driving School attraction is one of the biggest attractions in your park and one that we have avoided on our past visits.

Our little boy has autism and is pre-verbal. We know that for him to understand how to drive one of the little cars on his own he would need longer than the allocated time allows. He would need us to show him exactly what to do, and he would need help to move the little car in the right direction. Not to mention help to avoid anyone else.

As with any parent visiting Legoland we wanted our son to experience driving in Lego City. So last Sunday morning I approached the staff at the L-Drivers Driving School and they couldn’t have been more understanding of our sons needs.

One of your staff sat with our son Ethan in his little car during the whole duration of the ride. Even though our son wasn’t very responsive to her she continued to talk to him, showing him how to drive, all the way through his turn. Not once did she give up on communication with him even though she was getting nothing back.

Thank you Legoland Windsor for making your Driving School L-Drivers fully inclusive of our sons needs. Not once did your member of staff make us feel that this extra support was too much trouble. She helped create special memories of our day.

  1. This brought a tear to my eye. To me acceptance and understanding of people with autism is all individuals like this (who are prepared to go that extra mile). A little bit of kindness makes such a massive difference. I bet you had a lump in your throat watching that! #SSAAchievements

I was over the moon that he got to have a go on the cars. It’s little things that so many people don’t even need to think twice about that mean so much to us x

  2. This is such a lovely post, reassuring of human nature. Your photos are lovely and really do show such a happy little boy having the time of his life. Well done Legoland; there is nothing better than creating happy memories for you and your children
