This past week Ethan has been vocalizing a new phrase. He can now say ‘Put Away!’ Well it sounds more like book with a P but it’s a new sound and a new form of communication.
The only problem is this phrase is highlighting his OCD tendencies. Little E will be happily playing on her mat when Ethan decides it’s time to ‘Put Away!’. Ethan will pick the mat off of the floor, hopefully Little E will have moved off of it, and take the mat out of the front room. Apparently the mat lives on the stairs when it is put away.
Not only does he put her mat away, her toys are also no longer safe. When Ethan decides to ‘Put Away’, all of the toys are put back in the corner of the room. I think this is something he has picked up from Darren as he will always put away Little E’s toys when she goes down for a nap, I feel this isn’t something that needs to be done until bed time.
‘Put Away’ has also been used this week when Ethan has decided he has finished with something. This is good as we can now use it as a cue rather than a meltdown happening because Ethan has had enough.
It’s a very cute phrase, as always we are keeping everything crossed that this one sticks.
It is a very cute phrase and it’s fab he is willing to put things away….
Bless Little E though….
It can get a bit OCD but its funny at the moment x
Oh, I can just imagine him putting all Little E’s toys away, just wait till she can protest 🙂 It must make such a difference to have this cue from him to know when he’s done with an activity x
You are right ‘put away’ does give us more of a warning than ‘no’. This is often said when it is too late and he has had more than enough x
Aw that is a cute phrase! And a very handy one, although I can totally imagine the concern of putting the mat away while Little E is on it hehe 🙂 xx
He has started to ask to put Little E away which we have to explain he can’t do lol
That sounds like brilliant progress! It would be great if it can help prevent a meltdown before it happens.
(My husband is forever tidying up too, I don’t see the point until the kids go to bed.)
Tiding up when the kids are still up must be a man thing lol
What a lovely phrase and how lovely that Ethan is putting the toys away – I wonder how Little E will react to that when she is bigger though?! Glad that it is also helping you to know when Ethan has had enough of something and avoid a meltdown.
I think Little E will really push Ethan out of his comfort zone which will be tough but a great life lesson for him x
Aww bless him 🙂 would he like to come and “put away” at my house? LOL! I could use someone to help me tidy up 😀
I’m sure he would love too ;0)
How lovely that he is vocalising, really thrilled for you all. Haha, at least your house remains tidy! 🙂
Thank you, I’m keeping everything crossed that it continues x
