Word Of The Week – Training

This past year has brought with it a lot of change in the world. We are still having to learn to navigate the coronavirus pandemic bringing with it many changes to our lives. At the same time, my work life has been changing. I have been working from home for many years but now my whole office works from home. My role in the team has also got more prominent and this week I have found myself training to learn new applications.

training

This training is really pushing me out of my comfort zone but it’s great to be adding to my skill set. Hopefully, I will get the hang of it all sooner rather than later.

Homeschooling for Little E hasn’t been going on again this week. I feel like I’m letting her down but we have been trying to catch up at the weekends. I can’t expect her to do five days’ work in two days. It is such a relief that she can go back to school on Monday. I just hope she won’t be too far behind her peers.

Ethan has been back to school for two weeks now. I think he is happy to be back but he is unsettled some nights when it is time to sleep. Their school kitchen is open again on Monday which means no more packed lunches. Darren is more excited about that than about Little E going back to school.

This week has felt like it has been quite long because of my training. At the same time, it has also passed very quickly. We need to start thinking about Little E’s school uniform. Both children have grown so much in these lockdowns. I had to buy her new summer dresses and she has no socks that fit. As soon as the shops are open we will also need to buy them both new shoes and trainers. It might be best to book an appointment for that as we can’t be the only ones who need to buy their children new school shoes!

  1. Sounds like a busy week with all the training and good luck with getting to grips with it all. Hope that Ethan starts being more settled again soon and that all goes well with Little E being back at school. I’ve had to buy Sophie new school shoes online as her ones were really too small. Had to make an educated guess with the size but thankfully they seem to fit well. #WotW

  2. Don’t worry about Little E falling behind….trust me, despite what the media have been saying it takes a lot longer for a child to ‘fall behind’ so much they can’t catch up. I’ve had three of my five children lose huge chunks of school, but they have always ‘caught up’ in no time. Good luck with everything x

  3. Training must have made this week interesting. Hope you master it soon. It’s good to hear that Ethan has settled back into school. Hopefully the nights will become easier. I can imagine there will be a lot of catching up for all the children when they get back. Little E may get on better than you imagine. My two younger teens have shot up. I had to order new trousers and it will be shoes and trainers as soon as the shops open too. Hope next week goes well. #wotw
