A Week Of Certificates

This past week has brought with it an influx of certificates from the children, all unexpected and as always a lovely surprise.

Star of the Week

Ethan brought home a Star of the Week award from school. I do love it when he gets these as I see them as a sign that he is making great progress. This certificate was even more special as it was for ‘fantastic maths work and great communication’. We have always felt that Ethan loves his numbers and we have seen a great improvement in his communication since he has started school, it was lovely to see this recognized.

The Swimming Award

It was a big decision for us to let Ethan join the swimming club. Leaning to let go of Ethan’s care and trusting others to look after him and his needs was a big step. To be honest its something I still struggle with and I find it hard to watch his swimming lessons.

The need to make Ethan safe in the water, as he loves it so much, is what is the most important thing. He still isn’t an amazing swimmer, I’m hoping that one day he will work it out but on Saturday he gained his first official certificate since joining the team. Ethan swam 25 meters with a woggle.

Baby Ballet

Not wanting to miss out on all of the action Little E also brought home a certificate from Baby Ballet. This month she moved up from Tots to Tinies, a step I was quite worried about as she is one of the youngest in the class.

Little E does love running around and I had no idea how I was going to be able to make her stay still in a more structured lesson. We haven’t been able to make it to too many classes because of illness but each class has been getting a little easier. Last week Little E even went up to collect her certificate on her own.

She doesn’t quite join in with all of the actions yet but I’m sure she is taking it all in.

  1. How lovely! Great that Ethan is making progress with swimming – as you say, so important to feel they are safe in water – and communication. Sounds like Little E is enjoying her dance classes! #SSAmazingAchievements

  2. Catie: An imperfect mum

What a super week. Congratulations Ethan and little E. So lovely to have a visual reminder of how well they are doing. Proud mummy moment, yay!
